This position is being established in anticipation of donor funding for a proposed project. Appointment is contingent upon successful donor funding approval and project commencement.
| 2. Introduction: | |
| Nutrition International (NI) works as a government ally supporting over 60 countries in Africa including Nigeria and Asia to deliver high impact and cost-effective child survival interventions. NI partners with governments in strengthening health systems to unlock their potential in delivering lifesaving interventions targeting the most vulnerable and marginalized children. Nutrition International nourishes people to nourish life.
NI Nigeria will support the Nigerian government in target states through implementation of the following project: “VAS for Boosting Child Survival in Northern Nigeria”. The project will provide financial and technical support in the planning and delivery of Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week (MNCHW) activities. It will focus on coordinating MNCHW campaigns to increase access to essential services for mothers and children, while also ensuring follow-up and post-campaign support to sustain impact. Through these efforts, the grant will strengthen state-level health delivery and improve community uptake of key health interventions. This position will be part of a team of thirty-one (31) full-time LGA coordinators across specific LGAs in Katsina and Jigawa states and will report to the Senior Program Officer, Child Survival (SPO). |

| 3. Overall, Purpose/Broad Function: | |
| The NI LGA coordinator will represent NI and support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of nutrition and child health interventions across 1-3 assigned LGAs she/he will be attached and be based in one of the assigned LGA’s Primary HealthCare office. This role involves connecting with NI state level coordinators and working closely with State and LGA level government staff, community stakeholders, and other partners to ensure effective delivery of services during the MNCHWs.
Specifically, the coordinator will be required to: • Work in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure sustained program coverage through adequate and equitable provision of quality services in all targeted areas.
• Provide hands-on guidance and technical support to relevant structures and teams at LGA level through supportive supervision and mentorship for ensuring effective planning and implementation of MNCHW activities including commodities supply. • Participate in regular updates and coordination meetings bringing LGA specific updates and flag potential risks for NI programming when necessary. |

| 4. Key Duties and responsibilities: |
| 4.1 Planning for MNCHW campaign
• Support LGA teams in developing detailed workplans and activity timelines for MNCHW. • Coordinate with LGA government counterparts, partners, and stakeholders to align roles, resources, and messaging. • Facilitate logistics planning, including procurement of materials, training of frontline workers, and community mobilization strategies. • Support Ward Development Committee (WDC) quarterly meetings for sustainable demand creation process • Monitor community mobilization activities including town announcers, radio jingles, etc., 4.2 Implementing the MNCHW campaign • Provide hands-on guidance and supportive supervision to health workers and volunteers during MNCHW activities. • Monitor service delivery points to ensure quality and equity of Child Survival interventions at community and LGA levels. 4.3 Documenting Learning- Post Event Coverage Surveys • Support the rollout of post-event coverage surveys, including data collection, analysis, and reporting of service uptake and gaps. • Document lessons learned, risks, and best practices to inform LGA-level planning and state-level coordination. 4.4 Implementing course correction • Work with LGA teams and stakeholders to review survey findings and address gaps in service delivery. • Recommend and support changes in implementation strategies to strengthen coverage, quality, and sustainability of MNCHW interventions. |
| 5. Education/Professional Designations/Experience: |
| Education
At least a bachelor’s degree in human nutrition, nursing/midwifery or public health from a recognized institution. |
| Experience
• General understanding of maternal, newborn Health and Nutrition, and Child Health landscape in Northern Nigeria with at least 5 years of fieldwork experience • Must have updated knowledge of child health and nutrition policies and guidelines in Nigeria. • Must have strong analytical, technical, and reporting skills. • Strong knowledge of local governance structures and community dynamics within the LGA. • Excellent communication, facilitation, and report writing skills. • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including government, community leaders, and frontline workers. |

| 6. Language Skills:

| • Fluency in English and Hausa is required. Knowledge of other local languages spoken in Katsina and Jigawa States will be an added advantage

| 7. Travel Requirements: | ||||||
| • The Coordinators MUST be indigenes and residents in one of the following states: Katsina or Jigawa. The coordinators will be required to travel up to 50% of the time within the LGA and out-of-duty station when required.
All travel required under this assignment will be provided by Nutrition International. |
