All for Peace and Dignity (APADE) is an international not-for-profit, non-governmental organization, registered under Canadian law in 2014 and Nigeria government in 2021. Our mission is to work with vulnerable people in poverty and distress to improve their well-being and together create a positive change. APADE’s activities focus on emergency, early recovery, resilience, and sustainable development for all people in dire need, regardless of religious, political, or ethnic affiliation, while advocating for peace and dignity for all. Our Project and activities revolve in response to the changing needs of the community we serve to contribute to the change that impacts the lives of vulnerable people. In this way, we guarantee continuous program improvement, and we also deliver accountability and transparency to our donors and all stakeholders.

APADE in collaboration with WFP IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MASTER CARD FOUNDATION, is to implement a project in Northeast Nigeria (Adamawa State). The aim is to strengthen local food systems and create job opportunities for young women and men through an inclusive agribusiness value chain. This initiative aligns with WFP’s objectives of strengthening local food systems and creating job opportunities for young women and men, transforming lives, and enhancing private sector engagement to achieve zero hunger, by promoting financial inclusion and empowering youth economically.

In this context, APADE is seeking to recruit a suitable, competent, and dedicated candidate for a job opportunity to fill the position of “A Livelihood Officer” to join the team the successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing livelihood programs to support the vulnerable population in the implementation Local Government across Adamawa State.

Location: Adamawa State, North East Nigeria.
Duty Station: Adamawa State
Department: Program.
Project Duration: 8 months
Reports To: Assistant Team Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in sensitization of local government structures, communities, and traditional authorities on the targeting criteria and identification and registration of the beneficiaries.
  • Help oversee the delivery of capacity strengthening activities across all LGAs of implementation and work closely with Business Development Volunteers (BDVs) for timely weekly report submission. 
  • Actively participate in relevant field assessments to identify the beneficiaries’ needs and viable business opportunities, ensuring assessment findings are documented and that all assessments include a specific analysis of community needs
  • Coordinate activities with local authorities, community members, other implementing actors and partners at the local level.
  • Compile and submit regular project reports and updates Integrate community approaches, protection mainstreaming, gender sensitivity and capacity building into all activities as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with MEAL team to map, identify and Monitor program participants on the various IGAs.
  • Lead in the selection and registration of participants with support from MEAL Team.
  • Conduct the sensitization of beneficiaries on program activities and objectives.
  • Conduct market assessment to ascertain various  available linkage opportunities in implantation locations.
  • Ensure proper  distribution of NFIs  to participants.
  • Identify emerging issues related to the project and inform these concerns or make recommendation for further solution.
  • Ensure proper set up of VSLAs and organized innovation challenges exercises working hand in hand with MSMEs officer.

Reporting and Monitoring:

  • Report on the progress of specific tasks assigned, problems encountered, actions taken as well as the quality of relations with beneficiaries
  • Submit the daily task and weekly situational report to his/her line manager on daily and weekly basis respectively
  • Collect any relevant information from the communities and partners, and reports to his/her supervisor
  • Keep monitoring tools and files archived at the APADE office, ensuring their availability to his/her line manager
  • Pass on any information or problems to his/her direct and/or indirect supervisor concerning his/her task, APADE programs, or safety aspects

  • Identify any gaps or capacity needs within the team and ensure training and capacity building are incorporated into program planning.
  • The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are non-exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project’s needs.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in Agriculture, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Economics, or a related field

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience within NGOs/INGOs
  • Experience working on livelihood, youth employment, agribusiness, or humanitarian/development programs is an added advantage.
