The establishment of the Institute culminated from the dare need to fill the vacuum created by a lack of government specialized institution in Information and Communication Technology. This was in spite of the fact that ICT has taken a centre stage in global systems and practices.

Qualifications / Experiences
The candidate seeking for the post should possess the following qualifications:
- Applicant must possess a Master’s Degree MLS from a recognized Institution of higher learning with at least 15 years post qualification experience or, Doctorate Degree with at least 12 years’ cognate experience.
- Must also possess evidence of good performance, outstanding Academic/Administrative leadership ability Must produce evidence of Registration/membership of reputable professional body/bodies in Nigeria
- Must produce evidence of ability to supervise approved research projects and exhibitions
- Must also possess evidence of Relevant publications in Journals and Textbooks equivalent to that of a Chief Lecturer as follows:
- At least twelve (12) papers presented at National/International Conferences or Seminars.
- Either of:
- At least 10 papers accepted for publication in reputable Journals of which seven (7) must have been published
or - At least nine (9) meaningful chapters contributed in at least three (3) distinct standard text books
or - At least two (2) standard textbooks in relevant field
- At least 10 papers accepted for publication in reputable Journals of which seven (7) must have been published
- Must produce evidence of Community Service.
- Must be Computer Literate.
Terms of Appointment / Conditions of Service
- The appointment is for an initial term of four (4) years and renewable for another term of four years only and no more.
- The salary is consolidated as applied to Jigawa State Tertiary Institutions.
