Grow Strong Foundation (GSF) is a child-focused, women and youth-led non-profit organization established in 2017. GSF is providing humanitarian assistance to Children, IDPs, and other highly vulnerable individuals in collaboration with NHF, UNICEF, and Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Northeastern Nigeria. As part of our commitment to achieving the objectives of our strategic plan, GSF is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the vacant position.
Location: GSF HQ, with oversight of field offices in Borno State
Reports to: Executive Director / Audit Committee
Purpose of the Role
The Internal Auditor will provide independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve Grow Strong Foundation’s operations. The role helps the organization accomplish its objectives by evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Planning & Execution
- Develop annual internal audit plans based on risk assessment.
- Conduct financial, operational, and compliance audits across HQ and field offices.
- Review internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with donor and organizational requirements.
- Prepare audit programs, working papers, and detailed audit reports.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify risks and recommend corrective actions to strengthen internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with donor regulations and Nigerian statutory requirements.
- Monitor adherence to procurement, logistics, and financial policies.
Reporting & Follow‑Up
- Present audit findings and recommendations to management and the Audit Committee.
- Track implementation of corrective actions and provide follow‑up reports.
- Advise management on areas of improvement for efficiency and accountability.
Capacity Building & Advisory
- Provide guidance to staff on compliance and internal control best practices.
- Support training initiatives to strengthen financial and operational integrity.
- Act as a resource for management in decision‑making and risk mitigation.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIA) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in auditing, preferably in NGO or humanitarian settings.
- Strong knowledge of internal control systems, risk management, and donor compliance.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and report‑writing skills.
- High integrity, objectivity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting/audit software.
