As part of the MSI Reproductive Choices Global Partnership, which operates in over 37 countries worldwide, MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices delivers services through six service delivery channels in Nigeria.
Position: Internal Audit/Compliance Manager
Location: Abuja
Job Summary:
The Internal Audit/Compliance Manager will support the provision of independent, objective assurance and risk evaluation designed to add value and improve the organization’s operations. The role involves bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
The ideal candidate should be objective, independent, and capable of analyzing documents and business risks holistically to provide quality recommendations to the country director and senior management team. They should be focused, proactive, able to communicate effectively in plain English, both orally and in writing, and able to present audit findings in a standard audit report format for management’s decision-making. The candidate must have sufficient experience to prioritize their workload and work with minimal supervision. They should demonstrate objectivity, initiative, energy, persistence, results-driven attitude, integrity, discretion, enthusiasm, and commitment to personal development in delivering excellent work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement MSI Nigeria’s annual internal audit/compliance plan.
- Identify and collate MSI Nigeria’s internal and external risks and suggest mitigation strategies to the compliance unit and senior management team.
- Interact with various departments for policy development and modification.
- Evaluate projects, business processes, and transactions to analyze the effectiveness of controls and risk mitigation.
- Ensure compliance with policies, standards, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensure resources are acquired economically, used efficiently, and protected adequately.
- Foster quality and continuous improvement in MSI Nigeria’s control processes.
- Conduct anti-fraud and bribery training and sensitization programs at regional and support office levels.
- Develop and implement a flexible annual audit plan for the centers, social marketing, and regional offices.
- Issue periodic reports to the Country Director summarizing audit findings at centers, regional offices, and the Social Marketing unit.
- Investigate suspected fraudulent activities within centers, regional offices, and the Social Marketing unit.
- Perform financial, operational, and administrative process reviews as assigned by the Country Director.
- Conduct daily transaction reviews for the support office, centers, regional offices, and the Social Marketing unit.
- Provide quality recommendations to the Country Director, senior management team, and business units to improve internal control systems.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Country Director or other superior officers.
Key Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
- B.Sc. in accounting, finance, or related fields (a master’s degree is an added advantage).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIA) is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in using SUN Accounting package and other accounting packages.
- Advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated high ethical work standards.
- Ability to travel for at least 40% of the overall work schedule.
- Independence and ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Flexibility and adaptability to current trends and affairs.
- Ability to multitask, manage a workload, and produce high-quality reports.
- Good team player and flexibility while working with colleagues.
