Position Title: Internal Audit and Compliance Intern

The scope of work (SOW) sets forth the services to be provided by the Intern, Internal Audit and Compliance, to Technical Advice Connect LTD/GTE (TAConnect), a non-profit organization registered and based in Nigeria to bring innovative solutions to the provision of Technical Assistance (TA) services to states in Nigeria.

Job Description:

The Intern will provide support to the Internal Audit and Compliance Specialist to conduct internal audit and compliance review, including provision of support to the Internal Audit/Compliance unit with regards to strengthening and enhancing the internal controls, processes, standards and procedures of TAConnect.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Provide support to the Internal Audit and Compliance Specialist in planning and executing required activities necessary for successful delivery of internal control measures and assurance that TAConnect objectives are achieved, and assets and reputation are safeguarded.
  • Provide support to the Internal Audit and Compliance Specialist n conducting risk assessments of the organization.
  • Provision of support to the Internal Audit and Compliance Specialist in developing plans and evaluation tools to carry out independent appraisals and verifications of the effectiveness of both TAConnect and donor policies, procedures and required standards.
  • Supports the Internal Audit and Compliance Specialist to review and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of operations, reliability of financial reporting, compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory laws, as well as safeguarding assets of the organization.
  • Supports the Internal Audit and Compliance Specialist to plan, perform, and report on internal control assessments to ensure that financial control, financial guidelines of relevant donors and other control procedures are in place and are being properly implemented and managed as designed.
  • Supports the organization in achieving value for money in its operations.
  • Carries out other tasks and roles as assigned by supervisor.

Job Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or a related field. Professional qualification in Accounting such as ICAN, ACCA, CIMA, CFE is highly desirable. Student members of internationally recognized Accounting bodies can also apply.
  • Experience: Maximum of 2 years of experience in accounting/audit practice, and familiarity with INGO and NGO sector is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with the development and humanitarian sector.
  • Previous experience working on donor-funded grants/projects such as BMGF, USAID, FCDO etc will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working with partners, organizations, and institutions.
  • Demonstrated attention to details skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Strong verbal, listening, writing, and inter/intrapersonal skills essential for effective coordination among several institutions and staff involved in a broad range of activities.
  • Strong ability to multi-task will be highly desirable.
  • Fluent in English, (written and oral communication)

Supervision

The Intern, Internal Audit and Compliance will report to the Internal Audit and Compliance Specialist.
