General purpose of the position

Under the direct supervision of the Camp Manager, the reporting assistant will be responsible for the implementation and reporting of CCCM/Protection activities defined in the project. Maintaining close interactions with the IDPs and local communities, ensuring strong relationships and promoting community ownership of all INTERSOS activities related to CCCM and Protection in targeted LGAs in Borno State. The reporting assistant is responsible for close follow-up with both CCCM and Protection team on both camp and reception center activities based on work plan, to ensure all indicators are achieved within their specific timeframe.

Tasks and Main Responsibilities

  • Supports the data management process for the CCCM Program, including data entry/collection, data analysis, and other information as needed, while ensuring accuracy of numerical and qualitative data and addressing inaccuracies as they arise.
  • Collaborates and supports M&E department in the development of adequate data collection tools to improve the quality of data collection in camps and the reception center.
  • Liaises with relevant public authorities and service providers in order to foster effective collaboration and encourage national interest and ownership in protection of IDPs, refugees and other persons of concern.
  • Ensures constant communication with the CCCM and protection team to identify potential problems, formulate recommendations and solutions.
  • Conducts regular monitoring visits to the field, to follow-up on activities and ensures community participation in the activities.
  • In charge of ensuring data protection both hard and soft copies; drafts and ensures appropriate means of verification for each of the activity conducted as per work plan.
  • Builds CCCM volunteers’ capacity to conduct M&E activities, oversees the implementation of surveys and reports any quality issues.
  • Ensures – through clear weekly and monthly work plans –field assessment activities are carried out in a timely, effective and technically sound manner.
  • Supports in organizing all CCCM/protection meetings, seminars, workshops, awareness and sensitization.
  • Participates in Co-ordination meetings, conducts needs assessments and co-ordinates with other agencies and actors providing services in CCCM areas of operation.
  • Carries out all tasks respecting key protection principles, including CP and PSEA policy.
  • Any additional task as instructed by the Camp Manager. Professional requirements
  • Minimum of B.Sc. in Social Science/Geography or related fields of study.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in CCCM, additional experience in data collection and management is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 1-year experience with recognized INGO Personal requirements
  • Excellent networking skills, cultural sensitivity and adaptability
  • High degree of negotiation and strong communication skills with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with senior members of the humanitarian community as well as with field practitioners. • Ability to work with a reasonable level of comfort in high tension and high security risk situations.
  • Knowledge of database and spreadsheet applications.
  • Demonstrated abilities in the maintenance of digital records and providing analysis of the records for presentation or reporting purposes.
  • Understands work from a process point of view and uses measurement and accountability systems effectively.
  • Knowledge of NGO and Humanitarian industry.
  • Computer literacy (MS Excel, MS Word)
  • Good organizational skills Ability and willingness to travel between across locations of implementation within LGA
  • Good command of written and spoken English, Kanuri and/or Hausa Language
