Grow Strong Foundation (GSF) is a child-focused, women and youth-led non-profit organization established in 2017. GSF is providing humanitarian assistance to Children, IDPs, and other highly vulnerable individuals in collaboration with NHF, UNICEF, and Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Northeastern Nigeria. As part of our commitment to achieving the objectives of our strategic plan, GSF is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the vacant position.
Location: GSF HQ, with oversight of field offices in Borno and Yobe State
Reports to: Program Manager / Head of Programs
Purpose of the Role
The Inclusion Officer will ensure that Grow Strong Foundation’s programs are inclusive, equitable, and accessible to all vulnerable groups, including women, children, persons with disabilities, and marginalized communities. The role promotes mainstreaming of gender, protection, and inclusion principles across all projects and supports staff capacity building to uphold organizational values of diversity and equality.
Key Responsibilities
Program Support & Mainstreaming
- Integrate gender, disability, and social inclusion principles into program design and implementation.
- Conduct inclusion assessments to identify barriers faced by vulnerable groups.
- Ensure project activities are accessible and responsive to the needs of marginalized populations.
- Provide technical support to program teams on inclusive practices.
Capacity Building & Training
- Organize training sessions for staff and partners on gender equality, disability inclusion, and safeguarding.
- Develop tools and guidelines to strengthen inclusive programming.
- Mentor field staff to apply inclusion principles in daily operations.
Community Engagement
- Work with community leaders, women’s groups, and disability organizations to promote participation.
- Facilitate feedback mechanisms to ensure voices of vulnerable groups are heard in program planning.
- Support awareness campaigns on rights, equality, and protection.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Collect and analyze data disaggregated by gender, age, and disability.
- Prepare inclusion reports highlighting progress, challenges, and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements on gender and inclusion indicators.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Development Studies, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in inclusion, gender, or protection programming, preferably in NGO/humanitarian settings.
- Strong knowledge of international standards on gender equality, disability rights, and child protection.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with diverse communities and promote participatory approaches.
- High integrity, empathy, and commitment to humanitarian principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.
