Care Best Initiative (CBI) is a government registered and recognized Woman-Led and Youth-driven National
Non-Governmental Organization (NNGO) founded in 2019. Our mission is to save lives, alleviate the suffering of most vulnerable children, adolescents (lower and older), young people, women and People With Disabilities (PWD); to maintain human dignity during and in the aftermath of man-made crises and natural disasters, among those affected by them; as well as to prevent and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situation; and to promote their rights in the society. We have implemented various donor and self-funded projects/activities in several areas of humanitarian needs among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), returnees and host communities. We are actively present in Northeast (Borno, Adamawa, Yobe and Bauchi States) and Northwest (Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi states) Nigeria. CBI employs a multi-sectorial stakeholder-engagement and community-inclusion approach to the implementation of all her programs and activities, and is well experienced in advocacy, influencing, awareness creation and behavioral change programming. Our thematic areas of operations cut across sectors like Health (FP, SRH, HIV/AIDS & RI), Education, Nutrition (CMAM, MIYCN), Protection (GBV, Child Protection, GE&I), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Food Security & Livelihood (FSL) among others with the objectives to improve access to basic and reproductive health services, and support distressed families. We also facilitate developmental programs, such as stakeholders’ advocacy campaigns against systemic and deep-rooted gender inequalities and barriers that will improve the socio-economic status of the most vulnerable (including orphans, PLWHA, PWDs, out-of-school children, Almajiri students and Islamiyya students), promote infrastructural and environmental development, and promote equitable gender and social activities in communities. As our activities are also aimed at strengthening the resilience of the most vulnerable and build their capacity and self-reliance through education, sensitization and awareness creation, CBI works in partnership with the Ministry of Budget and Planning, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and Women’s Affairs, Ministry of Health as well as other relevant line-ministries for implementation. CBI also partners with other local and international partners and is an active member of several Clusters, Working groups and CSO Networks in all her states of operation and at the national level is a member of the Coalition of NGOs in Nigeria.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Hygiene Promotion Assistant will be responsible for hygiene promotion and sanitation activities in the project implementation of ‘Delivering RRM WASH Assistance’ project in two LGAs of Borno State. Under guidance of the WASH Officer, the role supports implementation of the CBI Nigeria’s WASH programme with the objective of providing timely and effective coordination of Community Health Promoters in each project LGA. He/she will support CBI’s interactions with IDPs and the local communities, ensuring strong relationships and promoting community ownership of all CBI activities related to water, sanitation and hygiene within the project LGAs. The role supports the implementation of activities. These include the planning of WASH activities, community mobilization, supporting community training on hygiene promotion, water management, awareness campaign and data collection
that supports CBI in developing the new concept ideas and mobilizing the communities for WASH activities Furthermore, He/she will assist the WASH Officer regarding regular updates and progress of
the project on field interventions with regard to hygiene promotion. Through strategic implementation of this project, he/she will directly work to contribute to the execution of CBI overall mission and strategic plan goals for 2023.

· Disseminates key messages on hygiene and carry out a massive hygiene promotion campaign
· Ensures community participation in all WASH activities; Mobilize, train and follow-up on communities/WASH committees formed and/or trained by CBI in all activities concerning WASH, ensuring good community participation, gender balance and ownership by the community.
· Plans for, organizes and conducts training for communities and committees through the development of Water Management Committees, School hygiene clubs and implementation of Community based hygiene awareness activities.
· Ensures constant communication with CBI WASH staff to identify potential problems, formulate recommendations and solutions.
· Conducts regular monitoring visits to the field to follow-up on CBI activities and ensures community participation in the activities.
· Ensures that consideration is given with a focus on gender, protection and HIV/AIDS in water and sanitation activities.
· Gathers health and hygiene-related information and report to Hygiene Promotion Officer.
· Liaises with community leaders and other groups within their communities.
· Conducts relevant needs assessment whenever requested
· Provides detailed, accurate and timely weekly reports to supervisor on activities, challenges and areas in need of improvement.

Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):
Professional requirements
· Must have a minimum of Diploma Environmental Health Studies or Social Sciences or other relevant fields with relevant experience and training in Hygiene Promotion
· A minimum of a one year experience in WASH, preferably within the humanitarian sector.
· Strong humanitarian commitment.
· Quality: dynamic, autonomous, Proactive, flexible, take initiative.
· Availability to work in interior LGAs of Borno State.
Languages
· Fluency in English
· Fluency in Kanuri and Hausa will be considered a plus
