Home Tutor – Secondary Level at Sheltered Hope Initiative -SHI

Role Description

• This is a full-time, on-site role for a Home Tutor based in Lagos, Nigeria. The tutor will provide one-on-one or small group tutoring in specific subject areas, assist with daily assignments, projects, and research tasks. Develop customized lesson plans and learning activities tailored to the curriculum and each student’s unique pace and needs. Conduct quizzes and practice tests to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement. Adjust teaching strategies accordingly. Teach effective study strategies, note-taking, organization, and critical thinking skills. Update parents, guardians, and classroom teachers on student progress and behavioral shifts. Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment that supports the emotional and social development of students.

Qualifications

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area or a valid teaching certification/license.
• Experience: Previous tutoring or teaching experience is highly advantageous.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Strong knowledge of the required subjects (e.g., Math, Sciences, English, Further Math).
• Soft Skills: High levels of patience, excellent communication, and the ability to build trusting relationships with adolescents
