Head of Impact At International Alert

Head of Impact At International Alert

This is an exciting opportunity for an evaluation or social research professional to establish and lead International Alert’s new Impact team. This three-person team will build on our existing monitoring and evaluation (M&E) practice to oversee the organisation’s impact assessment, and provide technical support to our evaluation and research. The Head of Impact will establish new systems, and improve on and streamline our existing approaches.

You’ll lead the development of our organisational theory of change and organisational indicators, creating a common framework to enable us to plan for, measure, and disseminate the impact of our peacebuilding work. You’ll oversee our bi-annual organisational Outcome Harvesting reflection processes, and coordinate with others to enable us to use these insights in external engagement. Convening a network of M&E staff across the organisation, with your team you’ll develop common tools and in-country capacity, and support country teams to recruit specialist staff or procure consultants to undertake project or programme evaluations. Your team will be the focal point for engagement with peers and other stakeholders in improving the quality of monitoring and evaluation of peacebuilding.

You’ll bring to this role your significant experience developing theories of change, indicators, and logical frameworks for international development or peacebuilding projects, and your thorough knowledge of participatory monitoring and evaluation methodologies. Your experience developing M&E systems for organisations and teams, and undertaking M&E in complex settings, will be invaluable. Engaging with colleagues across the organisation will be central to this role, so you’ll draw on your extensive experience working remotely with country teams, supporting and building the capacity of others, as well as your experience facilitating workshops and working with people from diverse backgrounds. Fluent in written and spoken English, we’ll benefit from your clear and concise writing style, analysis skills, and your excellent interpersonal skills.

French or Russian language skills would be beneficial but are not essential.
