The Chabash Development and Health Initiative (CDHI) is a women-led national NGO registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT/NO 85190) and operational across Northeast and Northwest Nigeria. CDHI’s mission is to empower individuals and communities to live healthy, productive lives through integrated interventions in health, nutrition, protection, WASH, and livelihoods. CDHI partners with international organizations and government agencies to deliver sustainable and community-driven solutions that strengthen local systems and promote equity.

Job Summary:

The Grant Manager is responsible for managing the entire grant life cycle — from proposal development, donor compliance, and award management to reporting and close-out. The position ensures that CDHI’s projects are implemented in alignment with donor requirements, organizational policies, and national regulations. The Grant Manager will also build the capacity of program and finance teams in grants management and contribute to resource mobilization and partnership development.

Key Responsibilities

1. Grant Management and Compliance

  • Oversee the management of all donor-funded projects to ensure compliance with grant agreements, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a grant tracking system that monitors deadlines, deliverables, and reporting schedules.
  • Review sub-grant and partnership agreements to ensure alignment with donor terms and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate internal grant kick-off and close-out meetings to ensure smooth implementation and compliance.
  • Monitor project spending in collaboration with the finance team and flag potential under- or over-expenditure.
  • Support internal and external audits of donor-funded projects.

2. Proposal Development and Resource Mobilization

  • Lead the development of high-quality funding proposals, concept notes, and budgets in collaboration with technical and finance teams.
  • Ensure proposals align with donor priorities, compliance standards, and CDHI’s strategic goals.
  • Track donor opportunities, calls for proposals, and partnership possibilities.
  • Support donor engagement and representation, including coordination of meetings, field visits, and reporting.

3. Reporting and Documentation

  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of accurate and timely donor reports (financial and narrative).
  • Review program reports for quality, coherence, and compliance with donor templates.
  • Ensure systematic documentation of grant agreements, reports, and correspondence.
  • Maintain a centralized grant database and share regular updates with management and project teams.

4. Capacity Building and Support

  • Train and mentor project, finance, and program staff on grant management, donor compliance, and reporting standards.
  • Provide guidance to program teams on proposal development, budget management, and documentation.
  • Support the development and enforcement of CDHI’s grant management policies and procedures.

5. Coordination and Communication

  • Work closely with the Finance, Program, and MEAL teams to ensure integrated grant management.
  • Liaise with donors, partners, and government stakeholders on all grant-related communications.
  • Participate in coordination meetings, workshops, and donor engagement events as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Development Studies, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in grants management, donor relations, or project compliance within an NGO environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing grants from major donors such as USAID, ECHO, FCDO, UNICEF, or WFP.
  • Strong understanding of donor regulations, compliance, and reporting systems.
  • Proven experience in proposal writing, budget development, and partner coordination.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grants management software (e.g., Salesforce, DevResults).
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and accountability.
  • Fluency in English (knowledge of Hausa, Kanuri, or Fulfulde is an advantage).
