We are recruiting qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Gender Specialist

Location: Abuja

Background

  • The Solidarity Center seeks a Gender Specialist in Abuja. The Solidarity Center is an international worker rights organization helping workers attain safe and healthy workplaces, dignity on the job, and greater equity at work and in their community. Position is contingent upon funding.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct technical assistance and programmatic support in gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  • Support the development of tools, systems, processes, and approaches that integrate gender across programs. Train and mentor others in learning and understanding GBVH and gender equity and equality.
  • Ensure program results are delivered and indicators are tracked in a gender-responsive way. Advance gender equity, equality, and women’s economic empowerment in the world of work including all stakeholders such as union leaders, government, community, and civil society organizations in Nigeria.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred and/or a minimum of five years of work experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience working on gender-based violence and harassment (GBVH), gender equality, and women’s empowerment issues.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining systems to promote gender equity and equality. Strong writing, facilitation, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
  • Willingness to travel to Nigerian states covered by the project.
  • Experience with USG or other donor-funded programs.
