Gender Based Voilence – Focal Person

  • Act as Focal person for gender integration and reporting at the Zonal level
  • Monitor collations and  documentation of gender data in the zone and supporting necessary follow ups
  • Support the review of reporting document at the zonal level and follow up data with SI unit
  • Ensure all concerned persons have access to necessary capacity building sessions on gender and gender norms at the Zonal level
  • Support the SRH awareness creation activities at the zonal level and linkage with SRH partners.
  • Act as liaison with GENDER, which coordinates participatory gender audits, if the office is undertaking an audit.
  • Contribute to sharing of knowledge and promote relevant good practices as well as sharing information messages from GENDER with all colleagues.
  • Help colleagues identify processes and contacts in order to strengthen links with gender equality documents and expertise
  • Encourage inclusion of gender-specific objectives, outcomes and indicators, and activities in the programmes at the Zonal level in conjunction with the GTA.
  • Support the process of documentation of gender mainstreaming challenges and lessons learnt
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Oprhan and Vulnerable Children – Focal Person

With support from the Care and support Officer, establish a coordination mechanism between OVC partners and KPCARE1 program for proper service delivery for OVC

  • Strengthen linkages between the KP OVC and household to OVC services between OVC partners and KPCARE1
  • Develop KP OVC services trajectory for comprehensive service map and for KP OVC and Household for service uptake from KPCARE and OVC partners.
  • Map and provide comprehensive list of TBAs for service integration for KPOVC between OVC partners and KPCARE1
  • Create safe space for young vulnerable KPs living with HIV for provision of SRH services
  • Establish and Strengthen referral system for KP OVC and household.
  • Conduct a Capacity building session for OVC linkage officers on identification/case identification and linkage of KP OVC to services
  • Develop tools for tracking service uptake of KP OVCs and households
  • Harmonize OVC needs assessment tool to reflect KP OVC and household needs
  • Support the KPCARE1 team on the development of standard operating procedure (SOP) and protocols across service cascade of case finding for positive KP OVC, adherence and retention in HIV care

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Psychologist, Social work, Gender studies, Law, Public Health
  • At least one-year experience in the area of public health and GBV management
  • Solid working knowledge (practical skills) in the following areas: OVC, HBC, VCT, Counselling, and ART.
  • Understanding of Gender and Gender dynamics
  • Moderate experience working with Key Populations required
  • Excellent skills in report writing, success stories collations and tracking of program activities
  • Excellent skills in Capacity building for vulnerable group

Other Competencies:

  • Knowledge of the country context related to public health, social services and HIV/AIDS. 
  • Familiarity with practices governing USAID, CDC, and/or other US Federal grant programs.
  • Good understanding of the international development context and experience in the sector (NGO, direct bilateral, multilateral relationships).
  • Ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training.
  • Skills and knowledge in program sustainability and capacity building.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Energetic, independent, self-motivated personality
  • Time Management – Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time and complete activities in a fast-paced, changing environment with minimal supervision.

Language Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Knowledge of Local Language preferred
  • Demonstrated competency in public speaking

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, Windows operating systems, Power Point
  • Other software routinely used by Heartland Alliance

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The employee will be required to co-locate with local partners usually in the same office
  • The employee is required to travel regularly to often insecure and limited-resource environment
