About the Project
The project, “Comprehensive Approach to Empowering Women and Youth for Social Cohesion and Sustainable Peace in Borno State,” focuses on rebuilding social cohesion and promoting sustainable peace in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) and Jere Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State. With targeted interventions in Shuwari, Jiddari Polo, Ngomari, Lamisula, and Maduganari wards, the project aims to address the root causes of violence, weak governance, and socio-economic vulnerabilities. Key activities include human rights training, peace education, economic empowerment, and fostering trust between communities and security forces. The initiative prioritizes including women, youth, and child-headed households, creating a scalable model for conflict resolution and resilience-building in affected regions.
Role Summary:
The Financial Officer will oversee the project’s financial management, ensuring compliance with donor regulations and effective resource utilization. This role includes budgeting, financial reporting, and supporting audits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage the project’s budget, ensuring alignment with project activities.
- Track expenditures and ensure compliance with donor and organizational policies.
- Develop financial reports and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support procurement processes to ensure transparency and cost-effectiveness.
- Liaise with auditors and ensure timely submission of financial documentation.
- Train staff on financial policies and procedures as necessary.
- Address financial risks and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications and Expertise:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Professional certification such as ACCA or CPA preferred).
- At least 3 years of experience in financial management for donor-funded projects.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of donor regulations and compliance requirements.
