Portrait of Lake .hild Initatie (PL.I) is a non-proft, Non-Governmental Organizaton established in 2019 to portray the image of children liiing across the Lake .had region, with sole aim of responding to the needs of the most iulnerable girls, women, children, and their caregiiers through contributons to their Educaton, Health, Protecton (GBV and .P), efect of climate change, food security and Liielihood. Its mission is to mobilize, motiate and sensitze out of school children especially girls between the age of 6-18 with low socio-economic status in the lake .had Region, through proiiding seriices that increases access to school and encourage enrolment opportunites for out of school children and protect them from all forms of iiolence

 PROJECT SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW

Portrait of Lake .hild Initatie (PL.I) in partnership with Grow Strong Foundaton (GSF) sets to implement an NHF funded project with ttle: Promoting Access to Multi-ectoral Preveitoi aid Respoise to protectoi -ervices for Womei aid Girls ii Yobe -tate. This project aims to address negatie cultural norms, proiide safe spaces, support traditonal leadership systems led by women, and increase reportng to SAR. in order to reduce iulnerability to GBV while reducing the risk posed to women and children by Gender-based iiolence, child abuse, and explosiie ordinance. Through this mult-sectorial project seek to mitgate protecton risks that arise from limited or no access to basic seriices through mult sector collaboraton with Mine Acton and Gender base iiolence partners. The project proiide child protecton case management, GBV case management and basic PSS to UAS. and other iulnerable children in three high-priority LGAs in Yobe State ( Potskum, Fune and Gujba) for a 12month duraton

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To proiide routne Accountng and Financial Management support relatng to budget executon, preparing fnancial statements, tracking accountability and superiision of day- to- day operatons.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Suppoct PLCI in fnancial expenditures of released funds; and ensuce acknowledgment of ceceipts and fnancial cepoctng is accucate, pcofessional and tmell mannec.
    1. Work with partnership agreement documents/guidelines and put them in user-friendly formats for reference and distributon to staf.
    1. Study and interpret guidelines, translate into operatonal policies and communicate to all staf concerned.
    1. Strictly work with PL.I’s fnancial policies and fnancial management systems releiant to the management of donor funds.
  2. Pcovide genecal suppoct in the management of the Accountng and Finance functon of the ocganizaton.
    1. Prepare, examine, and analyze accountng records, fnancial statements, and other fnancial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reportng and procedural standards.
    1. Assist with analyzing fnancial statements on a monthly basis and report on iariances.
    1. Assist with fnancial and tax audits.
    1. Assist with preparing tax returns and corporate reportng requirements.
  3. Pactcipate in the development of the ocganizaton’s budgets and contcacts.
    1. Review and participate in the development of the organization’s budgets for accuracy
      1. Monitor donor organization contracts to ensure activities are in line with the underlying budget and the completeness and relevance of contract clauses.
  4. Maintain an up-to-date fied asset cegistec of PLCI
    1. Prepare and maintain an up-to-date fxed asset register of the organizaton by ensuring that all company assets are adequately safeguarded and recorded.
      1. Monitor all moiements of organizaton assets from one locaton to another
      1. Perform a physical ierifcaton of organizaton assets acquired on a semi-annual basis.
      1. Staf loans and other trade debtors’ account reconciliatons.
      1. Prepare journal entries and related reconciliatons on a monthly basis.
      1. Prepare and submit ad-hoc management reports 
  5. Pcepace and atend to the needs of the ocganizatonns intecnal and eitecnal auditocs.
    1. Prepare audit schedules as per checklist made available and any other pertinent supporting analysis
      1. Participate in pre- and post (exit) audit meetings
      1. Communicate and discuss in time and in desired format audit requirements to ensure that audit timetables and guidelines are adhered to.
      1. Follow –up responses and clear audit issues both internal and external.
  6. Coocdinate with the Finance Managec in stakeholdec management and stcategic dicecton.
    1. Carry out regular reconciliations of the company’s fixed assets, creditors and prepayments.
      1. Prepare quarterly reconciliations & reports
      1. Maintain project accounts & reports in line with the organization’s Investments and other capital expenditure.
      1. Provide input on all financial elements of the organization’s strategic plan in line with capital expenditure.
      1. Prepare cash flow projections and initiate cash optimization strategies in line with organization financial policy and procedures.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualificatons

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • PGD in a relevant field or relevant professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIA or CFA

Experience

● At least fie years releiant working experience in a fnancial insttuton of which two years should be at management leiel.
