APADE in collaboration with WFP IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MASTER CARD FOUNDATION, is
to implement a project in Northeast Nigeria (Adamawa State). The aim is to strengthen local food systems
and create job opportunities for young women and men through an inclusive agribusiness value chain. This
initiative aligns with WFP’s objectives of strengthening local food systems and creating job opportunities
for young women and men, transforming lives, and enhancing private sector engagement to achieve zero
hunger, by promoting financial inclusion and empowering youth economically
In this context, APADE is seeking to recruit a suitable, competent, and dedicated candidate for a job
opportunity to fill the position of Finance Officer. The Candidate will be responsible for coordinating
efficient financial management in compliance with APADE’s policies in line with our donor (WFP)
requirements, the role involves maintaining financial records, preparing budgets, processing payments,
and providing financial analysis to support project implementation.
Details of the job:
Job Title: Finance Officer.
Location: Adamawa State, North East Nigeria.
Duty Station: ADAMAWA State .
Department: Management.
Project Duration: 12 months with the possibility of extension
Reports to: Country Director, with Project Manager in Cc.
Starting Date: 1st February 2025

Tasks and Responsibility:
o Maintain and manage the project financial records, ensuring accuracy and completeness in line
with our donor’s requirements.
o Prepare budgets and forecasts to support project planning and implementation.
o Monitor expenditures against the budget and provide regular reports.
o Process fund transfers and record deposits accurately in the accounting system.
o Maintain bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are documented.
o Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and reimbursements in compliance with
organizational policies and donor requirements.
o Prepare payroll and manage all employee’s monthly salary payments, vendor’s payments, and any
related payments or contributions.
o Maintain accurate records of petty cash and perform monthly reconciliations.
o Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, highlighting variances and presenting
recommendations.
o Perform routine calculations and analyses to assist management in decision-making.
o Ensure compliance with relevant government laws such as VAT and TAX payment regulations.
o Liaise with external auditors and facilitate the audit process by providing required documentation
and information.
o Provide training to program and support staff on financial processes, and the necessity of proper
documentation in every transaction.
o Assist in enhancing financial literacy among team members and stakeholders.
o Utilize accounting software and tools, such as QuickBooks, and other accounting applications for
financial reporting and record-keeping.
o Ensure that the financial software is updated, and troubleshoot any issues related to financial
systems.
Educational Requirements:
o Msc / HND in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or a related field
o Professional certification (or part qualification) in accounting (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA) is an
advantage.
Professional Experience:
o Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in an NGO or
INGO setting.
o The candidate must have worked under project financed by WFP
Skills and Competencies:
o Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
o Proficiency in financial management software, particularly QuickBooks and other accounting
software.
o Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
o Ability to prepare and present clear and concise financial reports.
o Strong organizational and time-management skills.

o Knowledge of donor compliance standards and grant management would be an advantage.

o Good English skills (speaking and writing); knowledge of beneficiary must speak languages.
