Finance Manager at Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC)

What we are looking for 

• The Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring a functional finance structure in the country office, following organisational minimum standards.
• The role works towards providing optimal support to programme implementation and other functions within the structure.
• The position holder plays a key role in financial planning and analysis and the allocation of financial resources to the different areas of implementation.

What you will do 

• Oversee the implementation of all Finance related policies, procedures, strategies, and initiatives in coordination with the Finance team in country and area offices to ensure success, consistency, and compliance.
• Line management responsibility for direct reporting staff and technical supervision responsibility for finance staff in area offices based on the NRC Technical Supervision. Guidelines.  This includes:
• Performance management process setting clear goals aligned to strategic priorities and follow up and support staff’s achievement.
• Workforce planning, recruitment, staff induction and development, and support for Duty of Care.
• Develop and maintain country financial documents, procedures, guidance, and tools, including strategy, ensuring consistency across the country programme and in line with organisational standards.
• Maintain the country’s overall budget control and monitor cash flows.
• Ensure that budgeting, accounting, year-end procedures, and other financial processes take place in adherence to Financial Handbook, NRC policies, and donor and auditor requirements.
• Train and develop NRC staff and partners’ capacity on financial and budgeting responsibilities.
• Carry out a proper implementation for the Anti-Corruption Policy within all finance operations and activities.

What you will bring 
Professional Competencies:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum three years of experience working in a senior finance role with managerial responsibility in a humanitarian/recovery context.
• Working proficiency in English, both written and verbal.

Context Related Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

• Previous experience within the Central and West Africa region is preferable.
• Working proficiency in English both written and verbal.
• Experience in risk management with implementing partners.
• Experience in remote management.

What we offer 

• Duty station: Abuja, Nigeria
• Contract: 24 months renewable
• Salary&benefits: grade 9 on NRC’s salary scale (The contract can be national/resident and/or international/mobile depending on final selected profile)
