Background
Bridge for Women Development Initiative (BOWDI) is a women-led, registered Non-Governmental, Non-Profit Organization with its head office located in Borno State, Nigeria. BOWDI has been active in Humanitarian and Development activities in the Northeast, especially in education, peace-building, advocacy, food security, livelihood, and protection.
Position Title: Finance Intern
Location: Maiduguri
Duration: 6 Months (October 2025 – March 2026)
Organization: Bridge for Women Development Initiative (BOWDI)
Reporting to: Finance Coordinator / Finance Officer
Purpose of the Position
The Finance Intern will support the Finance Team in carrying out daily financial operations, documentation, and compliance with BOWDI’s policies and donor requirements. The role also provides an opportunity for capacity building and exposure to practical financial management in the NGO sector.
Key Responsibilities
The Finance Intern will:
- Assist in the preparation and documentation of payment requests.
- Support filing, scanning, and proper record-keeping of financial documents.
- Assist in updating cash and bank books.
- Help in the preparation of monthly reconciliations.
- Support in verifying receipts, invoices, and supporting documents.
- Assist in tracking advances and following up on retirements.
- Provide support during audits and donor reviews.
- Carry out other tasks as may be assigned by the Finance Team.
Learning Opportunities for the Intern
The internship will provide exposure to:
- NGO financial systems and procedures.
- Practical use of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Budget monitoring and reporting.
- Donor compliance and financial accountability.
Qualifications
- Fresh graduates or candidates who have recently completed NYSC in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word).
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Duration & Stipend
- Duration: 6 Months (October 2025 – March 2026)
- Stipend: As per BOWDI Internship Policy.

The Finance Intern will be required to maintain strict confidentiality on all financial and organizational information accessed during the internship.
