BACKGROUND
LARIF Peace Empowerment Foundation (LPEF) is a humanitarian and developmental non-profit organisation founded in February 2022. The organization is working to address Humanitarian and developmental issues across the world through research, quick impact project, long term impact project, advocacy, and governance support. LPEF specializes in Education and Skills Development; Women Empowerment and Gender Equality; Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship; Sustainable Development and Environmental Conservation; and Health.

Position: Finance and Operations Specialist Consultant

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The project will primarily address gender-based violence while also addressing peacebuilding, climate change, livelihood, and child protection. It will be concentrated in Adamawa state’s LGAs of Gombi, Hong, and Yola North. It is a community-cantered program aimed to engage children, youths, and adults through activities that mainstream social cohesion, increase awareness on GBV, self-reliance and promote child protection to address the root causes of violence and conflict. The activities will involve:
- Community and religious leaders are Fully equipped to understand and address challenges of conflict.
- Families are support through trained community and religious leaders to build a community support group through working collaboratively to identify and resolve conflict related to deradicalization.
- Training of children and youths on peacebuilding and conflict resolution; self esteem and confidence; and Citizenship.
- Establishment of Children and Youths forum across communities to increase social cohesion and resilience.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Larif Peace Empowerment Foundation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance and Operations Specialist Consultant to join our team. This position is a crucial role in supporting the organization’s financial management and operational efficiency.
The Finance and Operations Specialist Consultant will work closely with the executive team, providing expert guidance and strategic insights to drive financial stability and optimize operational processes.
This position will be on a hybrid basis and will require field visits as much as possible when required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and systems to ensure effective financial planning, budgeting, and reporting. Monitor financial performance, analyse variances, and provide recommendations for improvement. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with financial regulations and
standards. - Operational Efficiency: Assess and streamline operational processes, identifying areas for improvement to enhance organizational effectiveness and efficiency. Analyse existing systems, recommend, and implement solutions to optimize workflow, resource allocation, and cost management. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational performance and provide regular reports to management.
- Grant Management: Support the foundation in managing grants and donor funding. Prepare grant proposals, budgets, and financial reports. Ensure compliance with grant requirements, track expenses, and monitor project progress. Collaborate with program teams to ensure effective financial and operational coordination.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop accurate and realistic budgets. Monitor budget execution, track expenditures, and analyse financial data to provide accurate
forecasts. Identify potential risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate
actions to achieve financial objectives.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks through the development and implementation of risk management strategies. Conduct regular risk assessments, implement internal controls, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to financial and operational risk management.
- Review all procurement purchases within the field office level threshold and ensure that all procurement is conscientious.
- Supervise and manage field procurement, office management, transport management and logistics activities and ensure efficiency in the activities in the field.
- Administer petty cash operations, provide accountability and reporting in full compliance with donor, and organizational policy and standards.
- Processing of check requests and wire transfers for payments to vendors in compliance with contract requirements.
- Review and process vendor and consultant fees/ payments in accordance with donor and organization’s accounting procedures and contract policies.
- Remit and file all the statutory deductions (including processing of tax clearance certificate) on monthly basis.
- To ensure reconciliation of monthly expense reports and respond to any inquiries on a Monthly basis to ensure that no issue is been carried forward.
- Implement systems and ensure proper checks and balances to mitigate potential for fraud or improper use of funds.
- Any other duties as may be assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ANAN) is a plus. - Proven experience in financial management, budgeting, and financial reporting. Non- profit or grant management experience is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as QuickBooks, Excel, or similar applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in financial reporting and operations.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements applicable to non-profit organizations.
