Location: Border Communities of Mubi North, Michika, LGAs of Adamawa State
Slots: 2 persons
Expected Start Date: As soon as possible
Closing Date: 9th April , 2025

BACKGROUND

Society for Women and Girl-Child Empowerment (SWOGE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to conflict
resolution, and economic empowerment for marginalized communities. SWOGE focuses on good social cohesion,
and sustainable development, ensuring that women, youth, and vulnerable groups have access to economic
opportunities and a platform to engage in decision-making processes. Through strategic partnerships and field-based
interventions, SWOGE has successfully supported governance initiatives, conflict prevention mechanisms, and
livelihood programs across Northeast Nigeria and neighboring regions. The organization remains committed to
promoting transparent governance, peaceful coexistence, and economic resilience among at-risk populations.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This initiative is a joint effort between SWOGE and SYJEDI, a Cameroonian-based organization, focused on
enhancing peacebuilding, governance, and economic resilience in cross-border communities between Northeast
Nigeria (Adamawa State) and Cameroon’s Far North Region. The project is funded by UNDP and seeks to strengthen
community-led conflict resolution, foster cross-border cooperation, and improve livelihood opportunities for
vulnerable populations.
The project operates in conflict-affected border communities where historical tensions, resource competition, and
displacement have exacerbated instability. By deploying Community-Based Mediators (Field Officers), facilitating
structured dialogue, and linking women and youth to economic resources, the project ensures sustainable peace and
resilience-building. This cross-border approach bridges governance structures between Nigeria and Cameroon,
reinforcing early warning systems, conflict prevention mechanisms, and economic empowerment strategies to
mitigate vulnerabilities and promote long-term stability.
SWOGE stand against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA). SWOGE has a zero-tolerance policy about SEA by its
personnel. All forms of sexual exploitation and abuse are incompatible with the universally accepted norms, values,
principles, and standards that underpin SWOGE. Protection from SEA is the responsibility, and all selected
candidates will be required to comply with the SWOGE’s PSEA Policy at all times. Selected candidates will therefore
undergo rigorous reference and background checks against their past behavior related to sexual exploitation and
abuse. They may be required to provide additional information further in the selection process.
