Job Title: Field Monitors (Camp/Site Facilitators)
Location: Jere, Konduga and MMC
General Context of the Job/Project:
Field Monitors (Camp/Site Facilitators) responsible in establishing regular communication with internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and new arrivals in camps, reception centers, and host communities. Will collect information on cases needing assistance, build relationships, and coordinate with service providers and community stakeholders to enhance project activities in camp and host communities for CCCM, shelter and NFI and Protection.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Establish regular communication with IDPs, returnees, and new arrivals in assigned camps, reception centers, and host communities to build trust and rapport.
- Conduct proactive outreach and engagement activities to identify and assess cases needing assistance, including protection concerns, vulnerabilities, and service gaps.
- Collect information on protection cases, including gender-based violence (GBV), child protection, family separation, and other relevant issues, using standardized tools and methodologies.
- Provide information, guidance, and support to individuals and families on available services, rights, and entitlements, including referrals to appropriate service providers and community resources.
- Liaise with service providers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to facilitate access to services, address concerns, and advocate for the needs and rights of affected populations.
- Monitor and follow up on referred cases to ensure timely and appropriate assistance and support are provided, maintaining accurate records and documentation of case interventions.
- Support community-based mechanisms, including community watch groups, women’s committees, and youth networks, to enhance community participation and ownership.
- Participate in coordination meetings, working groups, and other forums to share information, coordinate activities, and contribute to joint advocacy efforts on protection issues.
- Collaborate with other SHO staff, including protection officers, social workers, and outreach workers, to ensure integrated and holistic support for affected populations.
- Uphold SHO’s principles and values in all interactions and activities, promoting dignity, respect, and empowerment for IDPs, returnees, and host communities.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification required. Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in humanitarian or community-based work, preferably in protection, GBV, child protection, or related fields.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations, including vulnerable individuals and marginalized groups.
- Knowledge of protection principles, standards, and best practices in humanitarian settings, with a commitment to promoting the safety, well-being, and rights of affected populations.
- Ability to conduct assessments, collect and analyze data, and document information accurately and confidentially.
- Familiarity with community mobilization, outreach, and advocacy techniques, with experience working in community-based protection mechanisms preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in local languages spoken in Borno state is highly desirable. Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required.
