Facilitator for Social Behavioural Change Workshops Targeting Women and Girls with Disabilities

Background

Supertouch Kindness Foundation (SKF) is committed to empowering and uplifting the underprivileged, with a particular focus on individuals with disabilities. As part of our ongoing efforts to promote disability inclusion and social behavioural change, SKF is organizing a series of workshops and events aimed at enhancing empathy, communication skills, and awareness among women and girls with disabilities. The planned activities include an Empathy Workshop, Communication Challenge, Inclusive Guest Speaker Series, Barrier Awareness Walk, and Interactive Storytelling sessions.

Objectives

The primary objectives of this assignment are to:

  1. Facilitate the delivery of workshops and events focused on social behavioural change and inclusion.
  2. Empower women and girls with disabilities by enhancing their empathy, communication, and awareness skills.
  3. Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages active participation and learning.

Scope of Work

The Facilitator will be responsible for the following tasks

1. Empathy Workshop

  • Design and conduct interactive sessions to build empathy among participants.
  • Use role-playing, group discussions, and experiential activities to enhance understanding and compassion.

2. Communication Challenge

  • Organize activities and exercises to improve communication skills.
  • Address both verbal and non-verbal communication, focusing on challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.


3. Inclusive Guest Speaker Series

  • Facilitate discussions and Q&A sessions to engage participants and deepen their understanding.

4. Barrier Awareness

  • Plan and lead a walk-through activity to identify and discuss physical and social barriers faced by individuals with disabilities.
  • Encourage participants to share their experiences and suggest solutions.

5. Interactive Storytelling

  • Develop and facilitate storytelling sessions that allow participants to share their personal stories.
  • Use storytelling as a tool to build community, foster empathy, and promote understanding.

Deliverables

  1. Detailed workshop plans and materials for each session.
  2. Summary reports on each workshop/event, including participant feedback and recommendations.
  3. A final comprehensive report outlining the outcomes of the workshops and suggesting future actions.
  4. Training materials.

 Duration

The assignment will be carried out over a period 3 days starting from 29th July, 2024 and ending on 31st July, 2024.

Location

The workshops and events will be conducted in Mubi North, Adamawa State

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Proven experience in facilitating workshops on social behavioural change, disability inclusion, or related fields.
  • Strong background in working with individuals with disabilities, particularly women and girls.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to design and implement interactive and engaging workshop activities.
  • Familiarity with the local context and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in Nigeria.
