All for Peace and Dignity (APADE) is an international not-for-profit, non-governmental organization, registered under Canadian law in 2014 and Nigerian government law in 2021. Our mission is to work with vulnerable populations in poverty and distress to improve their well-being and create positive change. Our programs focus on emergency relief, early recovery, resilience, and sustainable development for people in need, regardless of religious, political, or ethnic affiliation.
In collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP) and Mastercard Foundation, APADE is implementing a project aimed at strengthening local food systems and creating job opportunities for young women and men in Adamawa State, Northeast Nigeria. This initiative seeks to foster inclusive agribusiness value chains and empower youth economically, aligning with the WFP’s goals of promoting financial inclusion, youth empowerment, and zero hunger.
APADE is currently seeking a dedicated and qualified candidate for the position of Entrepreneurship Ecosystem and MSME Development Officer to support the project in Adamawa State.
Job Title: Entrepreneurship Ecosystem and MSME Development Officer
Location: Adamawa State, Northeast Nigeria
Duty Station: Adamawa State
Department: Program
Project Duration: 12 months with the possibility of contract extension
Reports to: Project Manager
Starting Date: 1st February 2025
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage entrepreneurship development activities across the implementation state.
- Provide technical advice and support to the project team, ensuring high-quality implementation of activities.
- Develop strategies to enhance MSME growth, including improving market access and financing options.
- Establish a strong entrepreneurship ecosystem, fostering new MSMEs and expanding business opportunities.
- Provide personalized mentorship and coaching to young agricultural entrepreneurs and youth-led enterprises, focusing on growth and sustainability.
- Lead initiatives that empower young women in agribusiness, addressing gender-related barriers and ensuring equal participation.
- Design and facilitate training programs tailored to young women in agribusiness, ensuring accessibility and relevance.
- Conduct market research to identify opportunities in local food systems and develop actionable insights for entrepreneurs.
- Establish partnerships with local institutions to offer entrepreneurship training and business development services.
- Support access to financial resources by collaborating with financial institutions and training beneficiaries in business plan development.
- Promote sustainable business practices, integrating environmental considerations into the entrepreneurship curriculum.
- Develop frameworks for monitoring and evaluating the project’s impact on food systems and employment creation.
Qualifications:
- Education: University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Business Administration, Agribusiness, Economics, or Social Sciences.
- Experience:
- At least 8 years of professional experience in entrepreneurship ecosystem development.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in entrepreneurship and MSME development.
- Experience working on projects supported by WFP is highly desirable.
Key Competencies:
- Ability to plan, balance, and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in English (both spoken and written); knowledge of local beneficiary languages is a plus.
- Experience in designing and implementing programs that promote youth and women’s participation in agribusiness.
- Commitment to promoting gender equality and ensuring inclusivity in program activities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a time-sensitive environment.
- Adherence to PSEA Zero tolerance policy and organizational codes of conduct.
