Since 2000, ECPM (Together Against the Death Penalty) has been working to combat the death penalty worldwide. The association promotes the universal abolition of the death penalty through advocacy with public authorities, strengthening abolitionist civil society, creating and disseminating publications, and supporting those sentenced to death.
ECPM unites abolitionists to increase efficiency and accelerate the movement toward the universal abolition of the death penalty. The association is behind the World Congresses Against the Death Penalty, which it organizes every three years in the presence of several thousand abolitionists from around the world (civil society, political and educational stakeholders, etc.) and around one hundred diplomats, ministers, and VIPs. The next World Congress will take place in Paris in June 2026, under the sponsorship of the French and Swiss governments. It will be preceded by a regional Congress in 2025 in Japan.
To support the political and financial mobilization of the association, and more particularly of the Congresses, ECPM is looking as soon as possible for a political and financial mobilization officer for a replacement fixed-term contract without a specific term, with an indicative duration of between 3 and 6 months.
Position Duties
The Political and Financial Mobilization Officer, reporting to the Deputy Director and functionally to the Director of the association, in conjunction with the Congress Intern and in conjunction with all of the association’s departments, will be responsible for supporting the association in its political and financial mobilization efforts. She will also assist in monitoring the World and Regional Congress program.
To this end, he/she will carry out the following main missions:
- Ensures the development of co-financing for the Congress (manages relations with funders, coordinates reports, writes grant applications);
- Supports the association in the development of other co-financing of the association, particularly for the abolition education program in France;
- Participates in defining strategy and political mobilization for Congress;
- Participates in the animation of the Core-Group (group of diplomats in charge of mobilizing States for the Congress);
- Participates in the implementation of the association’s other political mobilization campaigns;
- Support for monitoring and evaluation of the Congress program: creation and completion of monitoring tools, organization of steering meetings, participation in discussions around monitoring and evaluation;
- Supports the Congress intern in carrying out her tasks and participates in monitoring her work.
Desired profile
Education: Holder of a higher education diploma (bac + 4/5) in political science, law, project management or equivalent professional experience.
Experience: From 3 to 5 years of professional experience
Qualities :
- Good knowledge of international geopolitics and international mechanisms (UN, EU, others).
- Excellent writing and synthesis skills (French and English).
- Very good personal organization and great capacity for autonomy
- Interest in the issue of human rights and the abolition of the death penalty.
- Appetite for fundraising.
Language : Excellent command of English (bilingual level in English preferred). Very good command of Word and Excel software.
Additional : Knowledge of the subject of the death penalty would be appreciated.
Salary conditions
Status: Fixed-term replacement contract with no specific term, 2,300 euros gross/month
Duration: minimum duration envisaged of 3 months (depending on the position taken up)
Salary conditions: 6 weeks of paid vacation and 12 RTT per year. Meal vouchers at €11.97 (60% covered). 50% reimbursement for public transport. Mutual insurance covered at 60% or 50% depending on family situation. Recovery system (weekends, Sundays, and public holidays doubled).
