Economic Security (EcoSec Generalist) 2 At The International Committee of the Red Cross – ICRC

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) in Mubi, Economic Security Generalist 2 contributes to planning,

implementation,  ensuring and monitoring of the ICRC’s Economic Security (EcoSec) programs in Yola SD in line with the Planning for Results/ Country strategy. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Undertake EcoSec assessment in general and as per need other sectoral assessment in the existing and new operational areas as per need and direction of the supervisor.
  • Facilitate and participate in data collection using standard data collection tools/ devices of ICRC and ensure data tabulation and further analysis.
  • Undertake EcoSec assessment using Sustainable Livelihood Framework approach and EcoSec core component approach of ICRC. This will include nutrition sensitive information collection, assessment.
  • Contributes to identifying response options based on an analysis of EcoSec core components (food consumption/production, living conditions, income support and capacity-building).
  • Undertake registration process of beneficiaries in operational area as per agreed response options.
  • Assist EcoSec Generalist 3/ Delegate and contribute development of proposals.
  • Contributes to developing methods, plans, implementation, logistics and reporting for aid distribution.
  • Contributes to designing and implementing voucher, fair, food/cash-for-work, cash transfer and microeconomic initiative programmes.
  • Visits operational areas to ensure discussion with community leaders and develop methods of implementation for proposed program.
  • Participates and Carries out on-site humanitarian assistance/ aid distributions such as Cash Transfer Programe, Food assistance and Essential Household Items distribution.
  • Responsible for implementation of interventions/Programs- Micro Economic Initiatives for Women Headed Households, Vocational Training for youth, Fishing gears assistance to small fisher folks HHs and other capacity building programs.
  • Contribute to writing Assessment report, Field Trip Report, Monitoring report and other required reports as per direction of the EcoSec Delegate. 
  • Develop Bi-Weekly Report and submit to relevant department timely
  • Responsible for updating the Ecosec Programme Monitoring Tool (EPMT)

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Agronomy, Social sciences, Veterinary sciences, Food & Nutrition Sciences and/or any other relevant field.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in food security, project management, community-based engagement, social work in any reputed National or International Organisation.

Desired Profile

  • Good communication skills with excellent knowledge of written and oral English •   Advanced reporting skills (writing reports) 
  • Proficiency in Hausa. Fulfulde an asset. 
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Sound analytical skills.
