We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Driver (Temporary Engagement)

Location: Kano (The driver shall be based in Kano but should be available to travel within the country when the need arises.)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Regular
Reporting:The position will report to and support the Communication Coordinator.

Duties
Under the overall supervision of the Administration Officer the driver will:

  • Abide by all journey management and other security protocols.
  • Ensure that vehicle documents/particulars are correct and up to date.
  • Keep record of vehicle movements in the vehicle logbook and ensure that staff or any other official visitor taken on a trip sign off the logbook at the end of each journey.
  • Maintain vehicle in clean and good condition ensuring that there is always adequate fuel.
  • In liaison with the Admin Assistant, ensure the vehicle is serviced as prescribed by the servicing company.
  • Abide by all traffic regulations, laws, and ordinances while driving to avoid fines.
  • Ensure that passengers comply with proper safety routine while in the vehicle.
  • In liaison with the Admin Assistant, ensure that the vehicle is equipped with maintenance, emergency and first aid kits.
  • Perform other assignments as requested by Management and Supervisor.
  • Sees to it that the vehicle is in safe premises, whenever if it is not in use.
  • Maintains a record of all trips made as well as the consumption of fuel and other materials used for the operation and maintenance of vehicle.
  • Open to working nights and weekends.
  • Report any vehicle malfunctions or needed repairs to the Admin Assistant.
  • Provide assistance with loading and unloading luggage as may be required.
  • Any other ad-hoc assignments or project as when required.

Requirements

  • At least an O level holder
  • Should be able to speak Hausa.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience
  • Holder of a valid professional driving license (both national and international)
  • Ability to communicate in English, read and write.
  • Willingness to travel extensively in the country and in the sub-region.
  • Attained defensive driving training.
  • Must be resident in Kano.
