For our office in (Abuja), we are looking for a motivated candidate to work as:
Job Title : Driver

Main Responsibilities/Tasks:
Vehicle Operation and Maintenance
- Safely operate vehicles in compliance with traffic regulations and Malteser International guidelines.
- Conduct routine checks on vehicles (fuel, oil, brakes, lights, tires, etc.) to ensure they are in good condition before use. Report any mechanical issues or required repairs promptly to the logistics or fleet management team.
- Ensure vehicles are clean, fully equipped, and properly maintained at all times, schedule and follow up on vehicle servicing and maintenance as required.
Transportation Duties
- Transport staff, goods, and equipment as needed, ensuring timely and safe delivery to designated destinations.
- Support field operations by driving to remote or challenging locations when required.
- Assist with loading and unloading items, ensuring proper handling to avoid damage or loss.
Safety and Security
- Ensure the safety of passengers, goods, and vehicles by adhering to security protocols, including safe route selection and compliance with movement restrictions in insecure areas.
- Monitor road conditions and report any safety or security incidents to the designated officer.
- Act as a security point of contact for passengers, providing updates on safety measures or changes in movement plans.
Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate records, including a logbook detailing trips, mileage, fuel usage, maintenance, and incidents.
- Reconcile and manage fuel receipts, repair expenses, and other vehicle-related costs.
- Ensure all vehicles have up-to-date documentation (insurance, registration, travel permits) and essential tools (spare tire, first aid kit, etc.).
- Assist in delivering or collecting official documents, supplies, and materials from vendors or partners.
- Support administrative tasks, such as photocopying, filing, or organizing office records.
- Handle office errands, including banking, post-office duties, or procurement-related tasks.
- Manage mail delivery and facilitate the distribution of official correspondence.
Emergency Support
- Respond to emergencies, including urgent supply deliveries or medical evacuations.
- Be on standby for emergency deployments, ready to provide transport or logistical assistance as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with non-driving duties, including clerical and administrative support, as required.
Selection Criteria – Qualifications, Competencies and Experience
- Applicants must possess a valid means of driver’s license, including knowledge of safe driving skills.
- Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts.
- Good knowledge of English Language and preferably residing in the position location (a must).
- Applicants must possess a minimum of a National Diploma/NCE certificate from a recognized academic institution.
- Applicant must have proven two (2) years of experience in a similar position with INGOs or other similar sectors.
