Malaria Consortium Nigeria is committed to tackling the large number of malaria cases and deaths in the country. Working in partnership with the Ministry of Health and other partners, we lead and support three major malaria control initiatives in the country: Support to the National Malaria Control Programme (SuNMaP); NetWorks and MAPS.

VACANCY

Position: Data Collectors                          

Experience: One – Two Years’ Experience

Location: Local Government Areas in the locations- (FCT and Oyo)

Duration: May, 2022

Malaria Consortium requires qualified research personnel that will carry out data collection, analysis and interpretation focus on conducting an assessment to evaluate the HMIS performance in eight SMC-implementing states and the FCT Abuja the assessment will inform the development and implementation of a continuous data quality improvement and use plan for HMIS at state, LGA and HFs levels. The findings from the assessment will guide the development of a comprehensive action plan to improve malaria data quality in selected health facilities across the eight states and the FCT Abuja.

Specific Activities for the personnel

  • Data Collectors/Research Assistants (54): The data collectors will beresponsible for administering the questionnaire at HF level according to the data collection protocol. They will undergo a 2-day training on SMC, data collection protocol/methodology, data collection instrument, art of data collection, inter-personal communication, and the use of electronic platform. The training will be facilitated by the trained state consultant/supervisor. One data collector per LGA will be required for this study (on the average of 6 LGAs per state and the 6 area councils of the FCT Abuja).

Qualifications and experience:

Profile requirements of data collectors

  • A minimum of degree (BSc/HND) in Social Sciences and Health related discipline.
  • Experience in conducting public health research, particularly data collection.
  • Experience in the use of modern technology in research, especially computer assisted personal interviews (CAPI) and simple apps like ODK and SurveyCTO.
  • Familiarity with terrain of the locality.
  • Ability to give attention to details.
