BACKGROUND

Overview of CPPLI

Child Protection and Peer Learning Initiative (CPPLI) is a human-centered social development not-for-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian National Non-Governmental Organization (NNGO) that was established and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in July, 2010 with the soul aim of ensuring that less privilege and vulnerable children (particularly girls) and women as well as populations affected by humanitarian emergencies have access and attain a quality life and education through building sustainable partnership with government agencies, UN-agencies, communities, individuals and other stakeholders in obtaining mechanisms and resources to achieve its aim and focus. The organization thematically focuses on Protection, Health, Nutrition, Education and Governance. Being a national and local organization, CPPLI is geographically operating in the Northeast Nigeria with tremendous technical expertise of working in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe (BAY) states due to its well understanding of the cultural dynamics and change in context of the communities in the BAY states. 

Background of the project

With support from the NHF, CPPLI will be implementing child protection and education projects under the 2023 first standard allocation. The projects will be implemented collaboratively with Murmushi People Development Foundation (MPDF) across 4 locations viz; Madagali, Michika, Mubi north and Gombi, Adamawa state.

The project aims to promote the overall well-being of conflict affected boys and girls and their caregivers especially women to be able to cope effectively with the negative consequences of the protracted conflicts in the state through strengthening their resilience and restoring sense of normalcy to ensure better recovery. Following a holistic approach, the programme targets returnees, IDPs, refugees and host communities and traditional/religious leaders and people living with disabilities in order to avoid creation of further tensions and to ensure inclusive programming.

CHILD PROTECTION CASEWORKER

PURPOSE

The objective of this recruitment is to engage qualified candidates with relevant experience and knowledge in provision of quality case management and psychosocial support services for population affected by the conflict in Adamawa.

Responsibilities of CP caseworker

• Identify individual cases through a regular presence in the community and accept referrals from other agencies and community partners.
  • Caseworker will be responsible for entering information into the Primero system and regularly making the necessary updates based on different services and interventions provided to each case.
  • Conduct initial and comprehensive assessments for Child Protection cases and prioritize them according to risk level.
  • Develop case plans with the survivor that respond to needs addressed in initial and comprehensive assessments and seek support from their supervisor when necessary.
  • Caseworker will seek approval from their case supervisors after completing an assessment, case plan and case closure forms.
  • Caseworker will be required to implement their supervisors’ recommendations regarding any gaps identified.
  • Regularly follow up to ensure all services and action points listed in the case plan are carried out within agreed time frames. Ensure that progress is regularly reviewed.
  • Regularly monitor and support children and families through home visits, providing guidance, advice, emotional support, community mediation, and referrals. 
  • Work with supervisors and managers to arrange case conferences for complex cases and ensure children receive multi-disciplinary support.
  • Manage cases in line with SOPs, adhere to standard documentation processes and follow best practice guidance.
  • Ensure that data collection and storage respect data protection protocols and the confidentiality principle.
  • Ensure that data and information sharing of any child and family are with prior consent and respects the principle of need-to-know according to data protection and information sharing protocol.
• Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure fruitful and smooth field-level coordination.
• Identify strategic collaboration and implement activities in collaboration with other service providers and conduct actor mapping.
• Closely coordinate with the CFS and WGSS facilitators on trends, community dynamics, and community acceptance, to modify activities and material accordingly.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of HND, University degree in relevant field or any of the social sciences.

Experience and Knowledge

• At least 2-3  years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience working as CFS facilitator or community volunteer with CPPLI.

• Experience (at least 2 years) of working in North-east Nigeria especially in Adamawa and Borno.
