The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental andnon-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for thebenefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Consultant – Engaging Men in Accountable Practice (EMAP)

Employment Type: Consultancy (30 Days)

The Goals of EMAP Are To

  • Reduce harmful behaviors and increase gender equality in the home.
  • Provide program staff with the tools and skills to successfully model accountability to women and girls and promote transformational change.
  • Give male participants the tools and knowledge to rethink belief systems and prevent Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) through individual behavioral change and provide them with programming guided by the voices of women in the community.
  • Provide female participants with opportunities to reflect on VAWG in their lives and influence programming with men that occurs in their community

Target:

  • Programme-level Monitoring and Evaluation(M&E)plan with set of M&E tools based on results of data running.

Core Functions / Responsibilities

  • The consultant will be under the overall supervision of the Project Manager (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support), and under direct supervision of the protection officer and will contribute to the implementation of the project output 1.3: Communities are sensitized on GBV (including GBV risk identification and mitigation) and are engaged in shifting harmful social gender norms and practices.
  • Consult with relevant stakeholders, such as IMC, IRC and UNFPA who are currently implementing EMAP in North east Nigeria.
  • Develop questionnaire for baseline and end line assessment to assess the knowledge, attitude, skills and behaviorsof the community before the commencement of the EMAP strategy and support the teams to conduct the assessment
  • Analyze the data from the baseline assessments and share report
  • Facilitate a practical session at the community level to support the teams in operationalizing the strategy
  • Train project staffs on Engaging Men in Accountability Practice (EMAP)

Expected outcome of the training:
By the end of the training, participants will have the knowledge and practical skills necessary to facilitate towards gender transformational change by ensuring participants demonstrate:

  • A proven ability to understand and internalize accountability to ending VAWG
  • An understanding of guiding principles in engaging men in humanitarian settings
  • An understanding of the EMAP approachand core concepts
  • An understanding of the EMAP intervention; what it is; how it is implemented and what resources are required

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:

  • Master’s degree in Social sciences, Gender studies, Public Health, Social work, Humanities, Law or other related disciplinefrom an accredited academic institution with five (5)years of relevant professionalexperience; orUniversity degree in the above fields with seven (7)years of relevant professional experience.

Experience:

  • Experience working on GBV in emergencies, protection, and gender programming
  • Experienceinundertaking implementing GBV prevention strategies including trainings on EMAP
  • Previous experience on working EMAP
  • Proven experience in participatory processes and data collection methods (including age and gender, appropriate data collection methods)
  • Excellent analytical, research, writing andcommunication skills
  • Expertise and experience in the humanitarian and sector
  • Practical experience working with mixed group host communities and Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs) women, men, girls and boys.

Languages:

  • Fluency in spoken & written English is required; knowledge of French and Spanish advantageous
