Hope and Rural Aid Foundation (HARAF) is a National non – profit organization functioning since 2011 but was officially registered under the corporate affairs commission (CAC) of the federal government of Nigeria in the year 2016 with registration number RN: CAC/IT/:85536. HARAF are into humanitarian and development activities with full operational presence and offices in Adamawa, Borno, Yobe with field offices in Michika and Calabar. The head office in Yola. The organization works in the Food Security and Livelihood, Protection (Child Protection/GBV), Education and Shelter/CCCM Thematic areas.
HARAF plans to implement complimentary livelihoods activities particularly to introduce livelihoods interventions to build their capacity by contributing to their basic food needs and ultimately reduce the cost of life savings interventions over time. This will also provide opportunity to utilize the otherwise idle labour, mostly from youth who are caught in humanitarian crisis through Entrepreneurship, Livelihood Intervention Skills acquisition and Financial Literacy Training at selected communities of Yola South LGA, Adamawa state.

Job Description/Responsibilities
The community Mobilization and Engagement Assistant will:
- Participate in the selection of beneficiaries (abled individuals) from households.
- Oversee and coordinate activities of the community volunteers.
- Participate in the development and translation of all messages in the most appropriate language and support the elaboration of communication materials based on community mobilization strategy.
- Compile, summarize and submit weekly activities of community volunteers to the Project manager.
- Take note, document and communicate all challenges/emerging issues observed/encountered to respective supervisor for further action.
- Follow-up on training, sensitization and meetings conducted to ensure implementation of action plan.
- Design and participate in awareness raising activities aimed at promoting climate changes (through tree planting), Nutrition, resilience-driven livelihood activities and GBV referrals pathways.
- Identify strategies to promote active community participation and ownership of the project.
- Promote the involvement of women in livelihood activities and awareness raising and encourage greater self-reliance among women in the communities.
- Identify advocacy concerns, Initiate and coordinate advocacy actions.
- Ensure the safe and confidential referral of identified survivors of sexual assault to the protection officer.
- Organize meetings with community representatives, and target groups where necessary.
- Participate in community workshops, meetings or any discussions on livelihood activities.
Prepare the work plan for all community volunteers’ activities
Minimum requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social sciences, International Relations, Community development, Political Science or other relevant areas.
- 3 years of relevant experience, including 2 years of practical experience in a field related to community mobilization, civic engagement or related area.
- Must be interested and committed to Human Rights, Gender Equality and Gender issues.
- Must be fluent in community language, spoken and written English: Fluency in Hausa will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel required.
- Ability to manage conflict work effectively in unstable, challenging, and fastpaced environments.
- Ability to keenly observe confidentiality and discretion.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Leadership and People Management skill
- Ability to set priorities, meet specific objectives, use political judgment and knowledge;
- Good interpersonal skills, diligence, open mindedness, and dedication.
- Experience in writing reports is desirable.
