Communications Intern at Forward in Action for Education, Poverty and Malnutrition (FAcE-PaM) – 2 Openings

Forward in Action for Education, Poverty and Malnutrition (FAcE-PaM) is a not-for profit Non-Governmental organization duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 1998 with registration number 11444. Our conception priority focus areas at inception were Education, Poverty and Malnutrition. Consequent to expanding needs and intervening challenges, we responded to them, leading to expansion of our areas of intervention and engagement. Although we have never lost focus, but over time, we have either been initiating or implementing (mostly in partnership or with support of donors) programs especially in the areas of Education, Peace Studies and Practice, Peace building and Conflict Management, Mediation, Promotion of peaceful elections, Gender and Disability issues, Water and Sanitation, Nutrition, Health (especially reproductive and public health), Orphans and Vulnerable Children, Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance, Capacity Building and Mentoring of NGOs, CSOs, CDAs, etc.

Background

  • FAcE-PaM’s is a Partner to CARE International in the implementation of CAtalyzing Strengthened policy aCtion for heAlthy Diets and resilience (CASCADE) Project.
  • CASCADE Project is a Programme being implemented being implemented by CARE International and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) with funding from the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. CASCADE is a 4.5year (2022-2026) programme implemented across six countries (Nigeria, Benin, Mozambique, Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda). In Nigeria the program aims to strengthen nutrition systems that contribute to ending malnutrition for 1.1 million women of reproductive age and children under the age of 5 and is being implemented in the State of Bauchi, Jigawa, Kebbi and Nasarawa States. FAcE-PaM seeks to recruit technical staff the following positions. Interested applicants are to send in a cover letter stating their suitability for the roles and their curriculum vitae.

Summary

  • The Communication Intern’s position is an opportunity offered by FAcE-PaM on CASCASDE Project for young graduates to earn a post NYSC experience. It is therefore both a learning and value-adding relationship between interns and FAcE-PaM. The intern is expected to take advantage of the space offered for experience gathering, self-development, while providing quality service for CASCADE Project through FAcE-PaM

Job Purpose

  • The Communications Intern will be responsible for assigned communications roles including supporting the execution of the organization’s communications strategy, social media strategy, managing organization’s prioritized social media channels – including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
  • S/he will liaise with the Communications Officer in providing support for the different thematic functions at FAcE-PaM on publications, social media, publicity & press relations to drive the advocacy arm of FAcE-PaM.

Person Specification

  • Support Campaigns and Communications activities
  • Provide support and participate in campaign activities directly handled in the unit
  • Provide support and participate in all inter-thematic policy advocacy and campaign initiatives
  • Support success story documentation.
  • Social Media Community Management
  • Work on the organization’s social media platforms
  • Work with the Communications Officer on all FAcE-PaM /CASCADE online activities
  • Work on seamless linkages of the organization’s social media accounts (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube LinkedIn and other social media platforms), ensuring uniform content and tone of voice for landing pages, graphics, and other elements
  • Increase the number of followers we have on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn
  • Monitoring and replying to communications on the platforms under the guidance of Communications Officer.
  • Posting information, uploading photos and videos on the platforms daily or as is directed by Communications Officer.
  • Make use of relevant tools like Tweet Deck to plan for weekends and holidays; LinkedIn polls and surveys to build our social media footprint and reputation; and other tools like SlideShare and YouTube.
  • Perform any other assigned responsibilities as it relates to the Communications hub and implementation of FAcE-PaM Communications Strategy

Essential Desirable Education / Qualifications

  • First Degree in Mass Communication or any relevant field.
  • Relevant NYSC experience in the related fields is essential.
  • Knowledge of the social media platforms
  • Content production; video, graphics design and photography experience is essential
  • Experience working in Digital and Mainstream Media sector is desirable Skills/ Abilities
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Good computer skills especially in the use of publishing tools
  • Multi-tasking skills is essential
  • Excellent planning and prioritization skills is essential
  • Content production/Photography skills Personal Qualities
