A-Goal Initiative (A-Goal) is an independent, non-partisan, and non-profit organization dedicated to promoting inclusive governance, enhancing public service delivery, improving public accountability, and fostering civic engagement in Nigeria.

It leverages technology to generate essential data and insights to inform evidence-based advocacy, drive practice change, and support reforms that promote inclusive and responsive governance in Nigeria. We also develop personalized metrics to track and measure responses of public institutions to public sentiments and feedback.

We are  recruiting to fill the position below:

 Job Title: Communications Assistant

Job Summary

  • Transform civic materials, data, and knowledge products into relatable, people-focused content that informs the public and supports meaningful civic action for the public good.

About the role

  • The Communications Assistant supports A-Goal Initiative in translating complex governance issues into clear, simple, and accessible language that helps the public understand issues and engage constructively.
  • You will work across our communication channels, turning policy analysis, research findings, and data into accurate, engaging, and accessible content for diverse audiences.
  • This role is suited to a careful and creative writer who enjoys both the craft of words and the pace of digital communication.

What you will do

  • Write, edit and proofread content for social media, the website, newsletters and reports.
  • Help manage A-Goal’s social media channels.
  • Turn policy and governance data into clear public content.
  • Support the production of graphics and short videos.

Who we are looking for

  • Field of study: Communications, Journalism, Language Arts, Public Relations, English, Media Studies, Law, Development Studies or a related field.
  • Good writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to develop clear and engaging content for social media, websites, newsletters, reports and other communication platforms.
  • Basic understanding of social media management and digital communications.
  • Ability to translate programme activities, research, complex policy or governance data into clear, relatable, engaging public-facing content.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

It helps if you have:

  • Familiarity with Canva, basic graphic design, video or content editing, or other digital communication tools.
  • Previous experience with an NGO, media organisation, civic organisation or development programme.
