The Project: Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP)
The Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP) is co-funded by the European Union and the German Government through its Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. Implemented by GIZ in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Power (FMP), NESP is a technical assistance programme aimed at promoting investments in Nigeria’s renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) sectors. The programme is divided into four components:
- Sustainable Energy Access
- Enabling Environment for EE Investments
- Electrification Planning
- Capacity Development and Certification
Responsibilities & Tasks
A. Responsibilities
As a Communication Intern, you will support the overall programme and communication experts of the Just Transition and Inclusion cluster. Your role will involve assisting Advisors in coordinating communication-related activities.
B. Tasks
Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Communication and M&E
- Content development for social media channels
- Development and quality control of communication materials
- Internal communication strategies
- Coordination of knowledge management activities within NESP components and programme management
- Assisting with programme management activities (team meetings, internal server, etc.)
- Monitoring project plans and reporting project activities
- Event Organisation
- Organising and managing events as required
- General Obligations
- Familiarity with all programme components, concepts, and implementation status
- Representing GIZ and the Programme’s interests and acting on its behalf
- Performing essential tasks for the Programme, even if not explicitly stated in the job description; performing other duties as requested by management
Required Qualifications, Competences, and Experience
Qualifications
- A university degree in Communication or any related field (social science, humanities, etc.)
- A master’s degree is an asset
Professional Experience
- Not more than 1 year of experience
Desired Additional Qualifications, Competencies, and Experiences
- Fluent written and oral knowledge of English; knowledge of local languages is an asset
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (MS Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Basic graphic design and video editing skills for creating visually appealing content; knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign is desirable
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly to intervention areas of the programme (including rural areas)
