How can you make a difference? 

Under the general guidance of the Representative, and in collaboration with the Deputy Representative – Programme, Deputy Representative Operations, the Chief Field Operations is responsible for supporting partnership development and facilitating coordination between Chiefs of Field Offices and senior management and section chiefs in Abuja, including, when necessary, representation of the CFOs meetings in Abuja.

Summary of key functions/ accountabilities:

  • Contribute to the overall leadership and management of the Nigeria Country Office by representing strategic perspectives from Field Offices, Emergencies, and UNICEF-led/co-led Clusters.
  • Provide overall leadership, guidance, and coordination to 7 Field Offices to promote effective programme delivery.
  • Provide overall leadership, guidance, and coordination to NCO emergency preparedness and response initiatives.
  • Provide overall leadership, guidance, and coordination to UNICEF-led/co-led clusters.

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: An advanced university degree in one of the following fields: social sciences, international relations, government, and public relations, public or social policy, sociology, social or community development, or another relevant technical field in one of the programmatic areas, e.g., Health, WASH, Education, Nutrition, Child protection, HIV/AIDS, or Social Inclusion.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of ten years of professional development experience that combines technical and managerial leadership in development cooperation at the international level, some of which served in developing countries is required. Relevant professional experience in any UN system agency or organization is considered an asset.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
