Job Title: CCCM Field Officer
Location: Maiduguri, Nigeria (with frequent field visits)
General Context of the Job/Project:
The CCCM Field Officer will be responsible in supporting project supervision and team management by overseeing Camp/Shelter/CFM Monitors, participating in technical coordination with government and partners on CCCM/Shelter/CFM issues, representing SHO in coordination forums, and maintaining direct contact with relevant technical support personnel.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Support project supervision and team management by overseeing Camp/Shelter/CFM Monitors and providing guidance and support as needed.
- Participate in general technical coordination (Technical Working Groups – TWG) with government agencies, NGOs, and other relevant partners on CCCM/Shelter/CFM issues at both field and Maiduguri base levels.
- Assist the Shelter/CCCM Specialist in representing SHO in the CCCM/Shelter/NFI sub-sector coordination forum, ensuring SHO’s active involvement and contribution to sectoral discussions and decision-making processes.
- Maintain direct contact with the Shelter/CCCM Specialist in Maiduguri and the
Protection/GBV Manager for technical support, guidance, and coordination on CCCM and protection-related matters.
- Coordinate and supervise all CCCM-related activities in the field, ensuring compliance with project objectives, timelines, and quality standards.
- Conduct regular field visits to project sites to monitor progress, identify challenges, and provide on-the-job training and capacity-building support to field staff.
- Collaborate with other sectors and departments within SHO to ensure integrated program planning, implementation, and monitoring in alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
- Support data collection, analysis, and reporting on CCCM/Shelter/CFM activities, contributing to project monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes.
- Foster positive relationships and effective communication with community members, local authorities, and other stakeholders to promote community participation and ownership of CCCM initiatives.
- Uphold SHO’s principles and values in all interactions and activities, promoting accountability, transparency, and integrity in CCCM field operations.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Civil Engineering, International Development, or a related field. Additional qualifications or certifications in CCCM, Shelter, or humanitarian assistance are desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in humanitarian or development work, with specific experience in CCCM, shelter, camp management, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of CCCM/Shelter/CFM principles, standards, and best practices in humanitarian settings, including Sphere standards and relevant sectoral guidelines.
- Knowledge of technical coordination mechanisms, humanitarian architecture, and coordination forums in Nigeria, particularly in Borno state.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including community members, government officials, and humanitarian actors.
- Proven leadership and management abilities, with experience in team supervision, capacitybuilding, and project coordination.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and work independently with minimal supervision in challenging and fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required. Knowledge of local languages is an asset.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite and data management software used in humanitarian operations.
