All for Peace and Dignity (APADE) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization registered under Canadian law in 2014 and in Nigeria in 2021. In partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Mastercard Foundation, APADE is implementing a project in Northeast Nigeria (Adamawa State). This project aims to strengthen local food systems and create job opportunities for youth through an inclusive agribusiness value chain.
Position Summary
APADE is seeking a Capacity Development Officer to design and conduct capacity-building programs for participants, including training of trainers, business model design, and the establishment of linkages to business development services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in entrepreneurship, MSME development, and capacity-building initiatives.
Job Opportunity: Capacity Development Officer
Location: Adamawa State, North East Nigeria
Project Duration: 12 months (with possibility of contract extension)
Reports to: Project Manager
Starting Date: 1st February 2025
Closing Date: 25th January 2025
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Conduct Capacity Development Programs: Develop and deliver training programs, including training of trainers, business model design, and implementation of business development services.
- Training Delivery: Plan, implement, and evaluate training sessions for MSMEs in line with WFP standards.
- Mentorship and Coaching: Provide one-on-one mentorship and coaching to youth entrepreneurs, focusing on business development, growth, and sustainability.
- Youth Mobilization: Engage youth in the community, encouraging their active participation in capacity-building initiatives.
- Recruitment and Coordination of Coaches/Facilitators: Manage coaches, ensuring they deliver quality sessions aligned with program objectives.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Assess and report on the effectiveness of training and development activities, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
- Partnership Management: Build strong relationships with partner institutions and business service providers to enhance participant support.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare reports on capacity development activities, outcomes, and feedback for stakeholders.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Education: University Degree (BSc) in Agribusiness, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in entrepreneurship and MSME development.
- At least 4 years of experience in capacity development with a focus on learner-centered training and coaching.
- A minimum of 2 years of leadership or management experience in a project team.
- At least 3 years of experience working on donor-funded projects related to capacity-building and development initiatives.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Experience with WFP-supported projects.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
- Commitment to gender equality and the inclusion of marginalized groups in project activities.
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) and knowledge of Hausa is an asset.
- Adherence to the PSEA Zero Tolerance Policy and organizational Code of Conduct.
