About the Role
STRATEGIC HUMANITARIAN AID DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION (SHADE) is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Logistics Officer to manage the effective planning, coordination, and execution of logistics and supply chain operations. The successful candidate will support field teams with the timely procurement and delivery of goods, fleet and warehouse management, and compliance with organizational and donor logistics protocols.
This position is ideal for professionals with strong organizational and communication skills who are passionate about operational excellence in humanitarian or development settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement & Supply Chain Management
- Manage procurement processes in accordance with SHADE and donor regulations.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and vendor lists.
- Fleet & Transport Management
- Oversee the scheduling, tracking, and maintenance of vehicles and transportation services.
- Ensure vehicle usage logs are accurately maintained and reviewed regularly.
- Support the development and enforcement of transport safety protocols.
- Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Manage storage, inventory tracking, and dispatch of goods and materials.
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile with inventory records.
- Ensure compliance with storage safety, hygiene, and security standards.
- Logistics Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate logistics support for field operations including distributions and events.
- Collaborate with program teams to forecast needs and plan logistics resources.
- Prepare periodic reports and contribute to donor and internal reporting requirements.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in logistics or operations in humanitarian or development settings.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Familiarity with donor logistics guidelines (e.g., USAID, ECHO, UN) is an asset.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Hausa or Kanuri is an advantage.
