About the Role
STRATEGIC HUMANITARIAN AID DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION (SHADE) is seeking enthusiastic and skilled Life Skills Facilitators to deliver engaging, age-appropriate training sessions to adolescents and youth affected by conflict and displacement. The facilitators will guide participants through structured activities that enhance personal development, decision-making, and positive social behaviour.
This position is ideal for individuals with a passion for youth empowerment, who can foster a safe and inclusive environment for learning and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
Training Facilitation
- Deliver interactive life skills sessions covering topics such as communication, goal setting, conflict resolution, self-esteem, health, and decision-making.
- Use participatory methods including group work, role play, storytelling, and creative activities.
- Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning space for all participants.
Curriculum Adaptation & Planning
- Contribute to the review and contextualization of life skills curriculum based on age, gender, and local context.
- Plan session activities and prepare required materials ahead of time.
- Ensure content is culturally appropriate and relevant to beneficiaries’ realities.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Track attendance and participation, and document progress and challenges.
- Collect and submit session reports and feedback to the program team.
- Support assessments and feedback sessions with youth participants.
Community Engagement
- Collaborate with community leaders, caregivers, and stakeholders to promote youth participation.
- Participate in outreach and awareness activities related to youth development.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or degree in Education, Youth Development, Social Work, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in youth engagement, life skills training, or facilitation roles.
- Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills, especially with adolescents and young adults.
- Understanding of adolescent development, gender-sensitive programming, and protection principles.
- Fluency in English and at least one local language (Hausa, Kanuri, or Shuwa).
- Creative and energetic approach to youth learning and empowerment.
