Branch Training and Resource Mobilisation Officer at Nigerian Red Cross Society

The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) was established through an Act of Parliament in 1960. This Act depicts that the NRCS is recognized by the Federal Government of Nigeria as a community based Voluntary Aid Society, auxiliary to and complementing the public authorities in the area of humanitarian interventions.

JOB DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide timely advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements and procedures; collaborates in defining and implementing project funding strategies.
  • Work with the Branch Secretary to sure that excellence in resource mobilization remains top of the NRCS Branch agenda.
  • Document on a monthlybasis, achievements of mobilization, successrates and challenges, and give reports to the HQ and Branch Governance.
  • Establish and maintain regular contact with donors and resource mobilization networks/groups in the respective State.
  • Identify partnership with institutions and government departments and donors in support of the NRCS Branch Activities

Training

  • Be familiar with Nigerian Red Crossfirst aid trainingcourses.
  • Ensure trainingand all relevant resources are setup and delivered to a professional standard, meeting all first aid requirements.
  • Display thorough knowledge and application of NRCS rescueskills and abilityto teach said skills
  • Build effectiverelationships with clientsto ensure effective outcomes in trainingdelivery
  • Ensure appropriate first aid trainingdelivery and assessment strategies are used to meet the needs of participants.
  • Perform cleaning tasks after every training class (such as cleaning mannequins and equipment)
  • With the support of the Health & Care Officer, provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all training and practice areas are free of hazards, and that materials and equipment are safe
  • Prepare and submit report of everytraining conducted.

DUTIES APPLICABLE TO ALL STAFF

  • Qualifications and Experience
  • University Degreein Public Health or other relevant qualifications
  • Minimum of 3years’ experience as First Aid Trainer
  • Relevant certificates in First Aid are preferable

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong judgment and ability to identify and analyse problems and to thinkstrategically to anticipate, interpret and develop strategic responses to issues
  • Ability to persuade, influence, negotiate, manage and sustain effective, successful strategic relationships both internally and externally
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office tools
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Desirable

  • Good knowledge of the workof the RedCross in Nigeria and the State
  • Experience in Programme designand management
  • Experience in Volunteer Management
  • Excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of project management, emergency and publichealth management, humanitarian relief issues, trends and goals aimed at preventing and alleviating human suffering.
  • Strong leadership, team building, conflict resolution and abilityto deliver the society’s articulated vision for change.
  • Ability to initiate and manage changeand align programmes to the strategic plan.
  • Demonstrated abilityto influence and resolve differences and conflicts.
