Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia – The MRC Unit The Gambia at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of two research units established in sub- Saharan Africa by the Medical Research Council UK and is the MRC Unit The Gambia at LSHTM’s single largest investment in medical research in a low and middle income country. MRC Unit The Gambia at LSHTM represents a unique concentration of scientific expertise and high quality research platforms in the West African region.

Essential Requirements
- Good level of general education at GCE / WASSCE including credits in English and Mathematics.
- Previous experience working in a hospital setting or successful completion of Nurse Attendant training programme.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good written and spoken English.
- The ability to speak fluently a minimum of two local languages.
- The ability to work co-operatively in a team.
- The ability to deal sensitively with patients.
- The willingness to work on a shift rota which will include weekends, night shifts and Public Holidays.
Desirable:
- Although not essential, experience working as an Auxiliary Nurse would be an advantage.
