Audit Manager at the Bible Society of Nigeria

The Bible Society of Nigeria is a member of the United Bible Societies (UBS), a global fellowship of Non-Denominational Christian organization whose primary mission involves translating the Holy Scriptures into languages people can read and understand as well as production and distribution of the scriptures in various forms to meet the different needs of people. It also organizes life transforming programmes to engage people with the scriptures and raising of funds for its activities.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Audit Manager

Location: Lagos Mainland, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will among others, do the following:

  • Assist in conducting reviews, audits, investigations and special assignments in line with the needs of the Society.
  • Perform root cause analysis to arrive at the real issues while complying with professional standards of the Internal Audit profession.
  • Check and monitor accounts to ensure that funds are judiciously spent and are properly accounted for.; detecting and preventing early errors and frauds of all types.
  • Verify that expenses made are in line with the budget i.e. monitoring and analyzing the Budget with actual, reporting any discrepancy.
  • Ensure that purchases are genuinely approved, authorized and made, and ensure that records are well kept
  • Update the risk profile of the division/business by monitoring close out of findings and conducting follow up reviews.
  • Draft sections of audit reports in line with best practices, maintaining the highest of quality levels. This includes in-depth analysis and deep dive into processes.
  • Ensure that working papers meet quality standards, are cross referenced to the report and supported by printed or electronic documentation.
  • Ensure that audit plans are provided, and administrative work is up to date including the filing of expense reports, time sheets and so on.
  • Inform Management of all significant matters. This will include consistent progress feedback to the General Secretary / CEO.

Requirements

  • Higher National Diploma or First Degree in Accounting is a must. A Master’s Degree in either Business Administration, or related field would be required.
  • Must have minimum of 10 years cognate experience out of which five years must be in a renowned audit firm or similar organisation.
  • Must be professionally certified by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN & CITN as Associate member at least) with wide knowledge of professional auditing, IFRS, accounting software package (SAGE 50).
  • Ability to be involved in strategic process audit for impeccable internal control system is compulsory.
  • Must have the following: A proven Christian experience and integrity; High level of discipline and carefulness; Willingness to learn and ability to work under pressure; Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other accounting packages.
  • Must be objective, forthright, not easily provoked, and proactive with excellent foresight in handling challenges before they occur.
