Job Title: Assistant Technical Officer – HIVST

Job Summary

  • The incumbent will provide technical support to the KP community-based organizations (CBOs/CSOs), screening facilitators, and health workers at GF – supported facilities to implement community and facility – based HIV self – testing (HIVST) activities across the GF NAHI implementing states supported by ECEWS.
  • Technical Assistance will be provided on demand creation for HIVST using Total Market Approach to screening facilitators at the community level.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee HIVST directed demand creation activities at both community and facility level
  • Provide technical support to case managers HIVST screening facilitators on mapping of PMVs & CPs at the state & OSS level
  • Coordinate and engage with the private sector (pharmacy and PPMVs) to implement the total market approach
  • Monitor service uptake along the established distribution channels and lead the coordination of facility and community based HIVST for the target population of interest.
  • Track project implementation at state level, ensuring availability of test kits at the service delivery points, accountability of distributed test kits and complete reporting at all levels,
  • Ensure that target populations along all distribution channels are adequately reached according to the national HIV testing protocols and guidelines
  • Work to establish and strengthen effective referral linkage between community outreach services and care and treatment facilities.
  • Contribute to development of project strategies, & work plans
  • Produce and ensure timely submission of routine program activity reports
  • S/he performs any other duty as assigned by the State Team Lead & Technical Lead.

Job Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Medical Laboratory Science, Pharmacy or other allied Health professions with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in HIV prevention. Relevant experience with HIVST is an added advantage.

Attributes & Experiences:

  • Experience in the provision of community-based biomedical and demand creation for HIVST services among GP & KP.
  • Experience implementing HIV/AIDS programs at community and facility level; familiarity and experience with GF-funded programs.
  • Experience in technical capacity building of CBOs & ad hocs, on HIVST.
  • Proficiency with computer.
  • Has sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political, contextual, and ethical issues in assigned areas.
  • Articulate and professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency.
