PLCI BACKGROUND

Portrait of Lake .hild Initatte (PL.I) is a non-proft, Non-Goternmental Organizaton established in 2019 to portray the image of children liting across the Lake .had region, with sole aim of responding to the needs of the most tulnerable girls, women, children, and their caregiters through contributons to their Educaton, Health, Protecton (GBV and .P), efect of climate change, food security and Litelihood. Its mission is to mobilize, mottate and sensitze out of school children especially girls between the age of 6-18 with low socioeconomic status in the lake .had Region, through protiding sertices that increases access to school and encourage enrolment opportunites for out of school children and protect them from all forms of tiolence

 PROJECT SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW

Portrait of Lake .hild Initatte (PL.I) in partnership with Grow Strong Foundaton (GSF) sets to implement an

NHF funded project with ttle: Promoting Access to Multi-ectoral Preveitoi aid Respoise to protectoi -ervices for Womei aid Girls ii Yobe -tate. This project aims to address negatte cultural norms, protide safe spaces, support traditonal leadership systems led by women, and increase reportng to SAR. in order to reduce tulnerability to GBV while reducing the risk posed to women and children by Gender-based tiolence, child abuse, and explosite ordinance. Through this mult-sectorial project seek to mitgate protecton risks that arise from limited or no access to basic sertices through mult sector collaboraton with Mine Acton and Gender base tiolence partners. The project protides child protecton case management, GBV case management and basic PSS to UAS. and other tulnerable children in three high-priority LGAs in Yobe State (Potskum, Fune and Gujba) for a 12-month duraton

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To protide support to project staf and ensure that all project acttites are in line with ataining set goals and objecttes of the project and build their capacity in data management, analysis, and reportng.

The Accountability Ofcer is responsible for oterseeing and maintaining accountability within the organizaton by deteloping, implementng, and monitoring policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. This role intoltes collaboratng with tarious departments to promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and responsible conduct. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Detelop and implement accountability frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulatons, and industry standards.
  • Monitor and assess organizatonal acttites to identfy areas of potental risk, misconduct, or noncompliance.
  • .onduct regular audits, intestgatons, or retiews to etaluate the efectteness of internal controls and identfy opportunites for improtement.
  • Protide guidance, training, and support to employees on ethical conduct, compliance requirements, and reportng mechanisms.
  • Intestgate allegatons of wrongdoing, misconduct, or tiolatons of policies and take appropriate correctte actons.
  • .ollaborate with legal counsel, regulatory agencies, and external auditors to address compliance issues and resolte disputes.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentaton, and reports related to compliance acttites, incidents, and correctte actons taken.
  • Serte as a resource for employees seeking clarifcaton on policies, procedures, or ethical dilemmas.
  • Stay abreast of reletant laws, regulatons, industry trends, and best practces in accountability and compliance.
  • Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical behatior throughout the organizaton through communicaton, training, and recogniton programs. 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administraton, fnance, law, or a related feld. Adtanced degree or professional certfcaton preferred.
  • Proten experience in compliance, risk management, internal audit, or related feld, preferably in a regulated industry. 
  • Strong understanding of laws, regulatons, and standards reletant to the organizaton’s operatons

  • Excellent analytcal, problem-solting, and decision-making skills with a keen atenton to detail.
  • Efectte communicaton and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all letels of the organizaton.

  • Profciency in using compliance management sofware, Microsof Ofce Suite, and other reletant tools.
  • Working .onditons: The job may require occasional tratel to tarious locatons for audits, meetngs, or training sessions. May be required to work irregular hours to accommodate compliance acttites or intestgatons. Ofce entironment with the use of standard ofce equipment and computer systems. Experieoie
  • At least 2 to 3 years of progressitely professional and practcal experience in the feld of Monitoring and Etaluaton. 
  • Experience in facilitaton and training in data tools, data collecton, compilaton, analysis and management of M&E database for efectte reportng. 
  • A unitersity degree in internatonal policy, social science, internatonal detelopment studies or other reletant degree or equitalent experience.
