Summary of Duties

  • Explore opportunities and support corporate fundraising efforts, focusing on individuals and donor agencies such as entrepreneurs, industrialists, international government donors, embassies, and local and international private sector organizations in line with AHDI’s corporate mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities
Resource Mobilization:

  • Contribute to the development, periodic review, and understanding of AHDI’s fundraising strategy.
  • Develop result-oriented systems and practices that help convert AHDI’s resource mobilization strategy into action.
  • Develop innovative, actionable, and practical fundraising activities to increase both contractual and non-contractual funding for AHDI.

Donor Mapping:

  • Constantly research donor priorities and collaborate with the senior management team to design, develop, and re-engineer products and services that attract donors and promote partnerships.
  • Maintain an active donor list and lead processes that drive effective engagements and collaborations.
  • Sensitize donors and develop initiatives that expand AHDI’s visibility to potential funders.
  • Map prospective bilateral, multilateral, philanthropic, and private sector partners, translating partnership opportunities into funding and strategic leverage.

Proposal Writing:

  • Analyze donor Calls for Proposals and provide guidance to ensure bids are timely, aligned with donor requirements, and address all selection criteria.
  • Provide advice on key bid elements, including program design, strategic partnerships, and presentation of evidence/past track records.
  • Maintain a deep working knowledge of donor regulations, interpretation, and compliance requirements.

Donor Relations:

  • Support pre-positioning activities, including arranging and accompanying donor visits and hosting strategic fundraising events.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of donors; gather intelligence and analyze key trends in donor policies compared to AHDI’s scope of work.
  • Organize briefings, meetings, visits, and events with current and prospective donors.
  • Support teams to ensure compliance with donor and AHDI requirements, including timely and high-quality reporting.
  • Assist in designing, implementing, and coordinating an institution-wide stewardship system that fosters positive, mutually rewarding relations with all donors.

Key Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in International Development, Economics, Business Management, Public Finance, Public Administration, Rural Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree is an added advantage (not mandatory).
  • High-level experience with demonstrable success in resource mobilization for medium-to-large local corporate agencies or international organizations.
  • Proven ability to work with donors, manage strategic relationships, and navigate the donor financing landscape and processes.
  • Ability to work against performance-based fundraising targets.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in French is an added advantage.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • Results-oriented, accountable, proactive, and capable of working effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and professional work ethic.
